When we woke up this morning, we didn’t expect that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster would have changed without warning.

Yep, we’re not kidding. We swung by Disney’s Hollywood Studios on December 1st to ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, only to see that the pre-show was gone. But is it really gone for good?!
Disney has not officially confirmed if this change is temporary or permanent; however, we spoke to a Cast Member who said they believe it is the latter. We just wish we had got to say goodbye!
In the past, if the ride’s pre-show was having issues, you could still see the background of the recording studio, but the actual pre-show just wouldn’t play. Because of this, we had a feeling something was different.

Now, instead of seeing into the recording studio, you just see these silver screens blocking it with the G-Records logo. Cast Members had guests in line walk right by.

According to a Cast Member that a reader of ours spoke to, Cast Members also had no idea this change was happening. Now, this may not be true for ALL Cast Members, but the general consensus we were receiving is that this totally blindsided us all.

We know that the current version of the ride will disappear in 2026 to make way for the Muppets retheme of the ride, which is also supposed to OPEN in 2026. We’ve been wondering how Disney would do that flip so quickly, and this could be one of the ways they are doing it. If it is permanent, like the Cast Member said, it’s just really a bummer that no one got to say goodbye and hear “How about some backstage passes?” for the last time.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re looking forward to the new version of the coaster, and we’re happy it’s not going away forever — it’s just changing! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news across the parks, so stay tuned to AllEars.

How do you feel about this sudden change? Tell us in the comments!

Glad we went on Sunday, Nov 30, for 1 last hurrah. The Pre-show was up and running, so we got our ‘back stage passes!’
Great! Now close down the whole building and start the retheme.
