Two Disney Cruise Ships Reroute To Avoid Incoming Hurricane

It’s hurricane season, friends, and that means a lot of things can change on a dime. If there was ever a time to be flexible, it’s now. We love our Sunshine State, but coming with the sunshine are all the storms.

Hurricanes can wreak havoc in Disney World in many ways, most often with the outer bands making your days rainy and windy, but not necessarily canceling them. However, we have seen direct hit hurricanes close Disney World parks in the past. If you’re on a Disney Cruise, though, out in the open ocean, your trip may have to be entirely rerouted to stay safe. That’s exactly what just happened to these TWO Disney Cruise Line ships.

The Disney Treasure and Disney Wish cruise ships now have shifting itineraries to avoid Hurricane Melissa. Emails were sent out to travel agencies with guests onboard the ships, and SeaMails were sent out to the current guests.

The Disney Treasure cruise that disembarked on October 25th for a 7-night Halloween sailing to the Eastern Caribbean originally had stops planned for Tortola, British Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and Castaway Cay. However, due to the storm, the stops at Tortola and St. Thomas are no longer possible, and the ship will instead sail to Cozumel, Mexico, on October 28th, and an additional Castaway Cay day was added.

The Disney Wish is set to disembark from Port Canaveral on a 4-night Halloween sailing to the Bahamas on October 27th. The ship was supposed to visit Nassau, Bahamas, on October 29th, and Castaway Cay on October 30th, but now it will visit Castaway Cay on October 28th and Nassau on October 29th.

At this time, the most recent NOAA tracker shows that the storm will most likely turn on Monday or Tuesday before heading toward Cuba and the Bahamas later next week. With these changes, all Disney ships and their passengers stay safe and still get to visit most of their intended ports of call before the seas get too stormy.
