The $0.69 Upgrade I ALWAYS Pay for at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Disney World

Disney World is expensive. There’s really no way around it. From tickets, to hotels, to the transportation to even get to Florida, plus so much food, souvenirs, and literally anything else you might need during your trip, it adds up quickly.

There are also numerous upgrades to try, which can cost thousands of dollars. While those upgrades are pretty spectacular, I found that a little paper container worth $0.69 is enough to completely upgrade a meal and is worth every single penny — literally.

Let me introduce you to this little cup of gold. For only $0.69, you can pick up a cup of caramel sauce at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, and y’all, once you start, you’re not going to want to stop.

I drizzled mine over the top of the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich that had Cookies ‘n cream ice cream in the middle. The minute I poured the caramel sauce on top, it drizzled on the perfect texture that wasn’t too runny or too thick. It almost became a glaze on top, and once I got a bite, lives were changed.

The caramel itself is buttery and salty, and admittedly, after I finished pouring it on my cookie, I took my spoon and scraped the rest out of the bowl to eat individually. Yes, this was after eating three different ice cream dishes for a review. Caramel sauce doesn’t wait for anyone.

When I was first handed the cup, I didn’t think there was too much in there. I thought it would barely cover my cookie. I poured a little too much on my cookie (hey, we’ve all been there), but the cup is big enough to pour on a sundae or to just dive in with the spoon.

The All-American Sundae is another great option that will require this $0.69 upgrade. No, it’s not optional anymore — this sauce is everything! The All-American Sundae comes with caramel on it, but you’ll want more once you get a spoonful of sunshine.

You can also get a cup of chocolate sauce for the same price. The chocolate sauce was in two of my other dishes, including the All-American Sundae and S’mores Milkshake, so I already knew it was delicious. It also has a gorgeous consistency, and when you’re drinking through a straw and get a hit of chocolate syrup, you know it’s pure magic.

I’m in Magic Kingdom fairly often for food reviews, and last time I was there, I was tempted to go in and just order the caramel sauce as a little shot of salty sweetness. I held back and headed to Casey’s Corner for the best plastic cheese in the world, which is only $1 and takes the Mini Corn Dogs to the next level. And no, it’s not the same cheese cup you can find at the pretzel stands. This one is completely different and is actually worth the $1.

I’m getting ahead of myself. Next time you’re going to Magic Kingdom and you want ice cream that feels a little bit more special without the pricetag of special ice cream? Get that $0.69 cup of caramel sauce and thank me later. Try it out on Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Sandwiches and Bars to take a $6.50 ice cream to a whole new world.
