The holiday season is usually pretty jam-packed in Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom. But one of the BUSIEST times of the ENTIRE year is New Year’s Eve. This is level ten, max-capacity, wall-to-wall foot traffic in the parks. It’s like the Super Bowl of busy days in Disney World.

This is usually because Magic Kingdom is 1) a pretty awesome place to spend the final day of a year, and 2) you can experience special events like the fireworks show that only happens a few times a year. Usually, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are the only parks to stay open until midnight, and are therefore the most packed. If you were thinking of enjoying the holiday in Magic Kingdom, we’re here to warn you that you need to grab those park pass reservations ASAP!
Now, before we start, it’s important to note that at this time, Park Pass reservations are only required for Annual Passholders and guests without date-based tickets (which can be one-day tickets or multi-day tickets). This means that the groups of people who DO need park pass reservations are:
- Student group tickets
- Sport and Convention tickets
- Disney Military Salute Ticket
- Annual Passholders
- Florida Resident Summer Magic Ticket
- Florida Resident Discover Disney Ticket
- Any other tickets not mentioned above that are NOT date-based tickets

With that said, if you’re someone who does need Park Pass reservations and wants to celebrate the end of 2025 in Magic Kingdom, we’re already starting to see some Park Pass reservations sell out for those at select hotels. Now, it is possible that more reservations could become available in the future, but it’s not set in stone!

However, at this time, Annual Passholders who aren’t blocked out on December 31st do still have full availability for all parks. This can change relatively quickly, though, so we don’t recommend waiting much longer if you’re looking to spend the holiday in Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.

If the park you’re looking for does have its Park Pass reservations all booked up, you usually can head to another park first, tap in, and then turn around to head to another park, but on SUPER busy park days (like holidays), it’s also possible that you’ll need to wait until a certain amount of people exit the park to be let in due to capacity reasons.

We also always warn that traveling to Disney World on holidays can bring crowds unlike you’ve EVER seen, and some people find it more intense than they were expecting!
