Why I’ll Never Rope Drop This Ride in EPCOT

So, it’s the first thing in the morning, and you’ve made your way to the EPCOT entrance. Now, you’re just waiting to get into the park.

France Pavilion

You probably skipped breakfast, thinking you’ll get something to eat later, because there’s rope dropping to be done. If you’ve been following along with our wait times posts, you know one ride has notoriously long waits, so as soon as you’ve scanned in, you’re heading straight towards the France Pavilion in World Showcase. Well, you’re on your own because we just can’t do that. We can’t rope drop Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Okay, so hear us out. By the time you get to the France Pavilion, you’re going to regret missing breakfast. Your stomach is going to be grumbling while you’re standing in line, but there’s no way you’re getting out of line because you’ve managed to catch the ride with a shorter wait time than normal. So you suck it up and you get your 3D glasses and end up in a ride vehicle.

You’re swinging through the ride on the trackless vehicle, but then there’s a scene where there’s bread baking…and the smell of freshly baked bread surrounds you. Okay, now you’re regretting missing breakfast, and you realize you’re hungry. You have to make it through the rest of the ride before you can get anything to eat.

So we say “no” to rope dropping this ride because it makes us hungry. On the other hand, it’s kind of brilliant on Disney’s part, because Les Halles Boulangerie et Patisserie is nearby, where you can get fresh bread and a good breakfast. So guests who rope drop Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure are probably heading there right after.

It’s these little details, though, that we love about Disney rides. When they pump in the smells, it really adds that much more realism to the story.  But we’ll just grab a time for Remy’s on Lightning Lane Multi Pass and ride it later.
