We Hate to Say It But Disney World Might Need to Temporarily Close 10 More Rides

It’s no secret that you’ll experience ride closures when you go to Disney World.

Cinderella Castle from Fantasyland

While Disney prides itself on well-made, creative, and intriguing rides, that doesn’t mean they don’t run into issues sometimes. To keep everyone safe, Disney will close attractions while they fix the issue, and while this sometimes takes half an hour, other times, it takes half a day. But what rides are closing most frequently in the parks? Let’s just say you may be surprised.

Magic Kingdom

Over in the most popular part of the entire resort, Magic Kingdom’s number one closure wasn’t one of the most sought-after attractions, but it was one of the oldest — Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel closed 49 times over 30 days! We’re not quite sure what’s causing this uptick of unexpected closures, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Disney announces an extended closure to give it some TLC in the near future. We do have to factor in its closure during fireworks each night, so when you take those out, its number of closures is not too bad.

Right behind it, we have The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which closed 35 times in 22 days. This attraction does see some pretty long lines in the park during peak times, but we are curious as to what part of the attraction keeps giving it trouble — this attraction isn’t known for having tons of high-end technology that would often cause issues, so our best guess is that it’s those heffalumps.

Finally, in third place, we have our beloved Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, which closed 29 times in 18 days. This doesn’t totally shock us since we’ve known this ride is prone to closures for a while now, but we’re still hoping to see the day it gets itself back on track!

Any day I get to ride the Peoplemover is a good day

EPCOT

We weren’t surprised to see Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure on the list thanks to its fancy trackless dark ride system, but we were a little shocked to see it in the top spot with 38 closures in 24 days. Due to the technology used for this ride, it’s likely this is one of the problem rides you’ll encounter when you’re in the park, so keep a close eye on it if it’s at the top of your to-do list!

Second on the list is poor The Seas with Nemo & Friends, which closed 22 times in 15 days. Disney, we don’t know WHAT is going on with this poor ride, especially because it’s not known for amazing technological feats, but we’ve gotta figure it out. Poor Nemo and his friends deserve better!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind closed 17 times in 12 days, which honestly isn’t too bad in our books! This is one of the most technologically advanced rides in the park right now, and now that it’s a regular standby queue instead of a Virtual Queue, it’s been seeing a LOT of traffic.

Finally, we have Frozen Ever After, which closed 17 times in 15 days. Not too bad, all things considered, but having 3 of the most popular attractions in the whole park up here doesn’t bode well for wait times. So if you’re ever in the park on a day that more than one of them closes at one time, expect wait times for the other attractions to SOAR.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We’re not surprised to see that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance had the highest number of closures, going down 37 times in 22 days. Again, this ride is trackless and is full of TONS of thrilling technological elements that often amaze guests, but that also means it’s prone to going down more frequently.

Not far behind was Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which closed 32 times in 20 days. THIS one isn’t confusing to us, but we honestly wish it was. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has had a few major refurbishments, both of them lasting multiple months, in the past several years, and yet it STILL sees closures extremely often. Soon it will close to be rethemed with the Muppets, but in the meantime, this is certainly one to keep a close eye on when you’re in the park.

In third place we have Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, closing 19 times in 17 days. All in all, not too bad for another trackless dark ride with a lot of high-tech elements! Sure, the closure rate could improve, but then again, it always can, so we’re gonna take what we can get and say, “Great job, Runaway Railway!”

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Alright, Disney, you JUST brought Kali River Rapids out of a refurbishment for the winter, yet it closed 20 times in 12 days? What exactly happened during all those months? Or is this ride just throwing a bit of a tantrum now that it’s back to work after such a long break? Honestly, if that’s the case, that’s relatable — feels like going to school after summer break.

Finally, we have Expedition Everest, which closed 16 times in 13 days. Not too bad for this older attraction that was almost torn apart by the Yeti in A mode! Any day we get through that doesn’t announce a massive closure for refurbishment for this ride is a great day in our book.

  1. I think I said that ,Shut it down all of it and fix what’s broke it won’t hurt ,park guests will come back and while there at it ,discontinue the reservations needed its not working either.
