REVIEW: Disney Changed One of Our Favorite Hollywood Studios Treats…and They Shouldn’t Have

OOOH! The newest treat at Disney World has been chosen — and it’s even more fun to look at!

The Clawwww! Lunch Box Tart

Disney World is full of some iconic options for snacks and quick service restaurants and some of our favorites are located around Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While we’re big fans of some oldies, there’s a new seasonal flavor in town and we knew we had to step right over and try it out!

If you ask us to choose one of our favorite restaurants in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to stop by for a quick bite to eat, we’re more than likely to tell you Woody’s Lunch Box is an absolute MUST!

Woody’s Lunch Box

This immersive quick-service restaurant is found inside Toy Story Land and features larger-than-life theming that goes along with the rest of the land’s “shrunk to a toy-size” stature. We love the details that Disney World has brought to life here, including the use of TinkerToys to outline the restaurant’s bounds, an impressive use of Babybel cheese wedges for table tops, and even the wavy ends of the cardboard cutouts that make up the majority of the restaurant’s building!

Here, you can typically save yourself some time (and a longer wait) by mobile ordering your meal through Disney World’s app, but this particular day, we were on the hunt to claim the restaurant’s newest menu item, which hadn’t quite appeared yet! So, we hopped in line, and in a jiffy, we were the proud new owners of the latest box tart creation.

Woody’s Lunch Box Patio

The Clawwww! Lunch Box Tart is now available here and will cost you $4.99. It’s a pretty straightforward snack of a box tart pastry stuffed with key lime filling and colorful icing made in the likeness of the iconic Green Aliens surrounded by galaxy blue hues of sprinkles.

So cute!

Admittedly, this new tart immediately made us a bit misty-eyed, thanks to the nostalgic feelings it gave us for these adorable characters. But we set our feelings aside and mustered up the bravery to fold it in half for food science!

Inside of the treat

This box tart was so pliable it almost bent instead of snapped when we tore it open, which meant it was fresh! That’s kind of where the positive impressions left us, though. The center filling is billed as key lime, which sounded to us like we should be prepared for a pucker-inducing filling, but what we got was definitely way sweeter than what we expected. In fact, as we were talking to a few other folks about how cute this little guy is, when we mentioned it came with key lime filling, that seemed to be enough to turn them away from even attempting it.

Looks better than it tastes

We have to admit that we really had to search for the key lime taste, which mostly came as a hint in the aftertaste. If you’re someone who really enjoys that citrusy tang of a typical key lime treat, you probably won’t find that here. Instead, this box tart tapers down the sour tartness in exchange for a filling that is much sweeter, similar to more of an icing. We could see this being much easier for little ones to enjoy over something that’s much more sour to their taste buds!

Overall, it was a fun snack to try, but not one we’re truly springing to get again over the usual Raspberry Box Tart also sold here (which was our reigning champ between the two). We’re not sure how long this new seasonal box tart will be available at Woody’s Lunch Box, so if you’re looking to try it out, we’d suggest “choosing” one soon!

We’re constantly on the lookout so we can tell you first about all of the changes, updates, and latest news happening around Disney World. Make sure you’re following along with us so you don’t miss a thing!
