It is finally the year for the opening of Epic Universe! We have been waiting eagerly to step inside Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, and the time has almost arrived.

Epic Universe is Universal’s brand-new theme park opening on May 22nd, 2025. The theme park features five themed lands with over 50 new attractions, shops, and restaurants.
We are counting down the days until we can experience everything this new theme park has to offer. We will get to explore a brand-new Harry Potter land, The Ministry of Magic, immerse ourselves in Super Nintendo World, and channel our dark side inside of the Dark Universe.

As you can tell, we are a bit excited, but there is one thing we really wish would change. Universal really needs new rules for their Epic Universe tickets.

Currently, you can only buy a 3-day ticket, with 2 of those days being at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure and only 1 day being at Epic Universe. Essentially, you have to buy three days’ worth of tickets, but you can only go to Epic Universe for one of those days.

There is no current option to add on an extra day unless you purchase 2 of these ticket packages (which would result in you having 4 days at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure and 2 days at Epic Universe). You can only purchase a single-day ticket for Epic Universe if you are a Universal Annual Passholder. Otherwise, your only option is to buy the 3-day ticket package.

There is no option for annual passes, although if you have an annual pass, you can purchase a single-day ticket for Epic Universe. Even if you are staying at a Universal hotel, you can only get the 3-day ticket package unless you are an Annual Passholder.

The good news is that Universal has stated that additional ticket options will eventually be available for purchase. However, we only know they will be available “before the park opens,” not an exact date. Universal plans to offer additional products such as “single-day tickets for the general public, additional multi-day ticket options, Florida resident tickets, Universal Express passes, and more.”

But for right now, if you want to experience Epic Universe, you will have to buy the 3-day ticket with one day at Epic Universe, or if you are an Annual Passholder (or are willing to buy an annual pass), you can purchase single-day tickets for Epic Universe.

I am going opening weekend with my daughter and girlfriend
Yes I agree. The way Universal is doing this is trash! They did the same thing when Islands of Adventure opened and my guess is they are scared of losing guests going to the Studios park. And I think they are right in that – Uni Studios is going to become a 3rd-tier park once Epic opens, and basically Epic is going to steal that crowd away since there is nothing new over there.
I think if Disney did this folks would be blasting them for it! But overall I think Epic will get a good first-year crowd but I also think for many it will be a “one-and-done” park being there are so many coasters and other attractions (Harry Potter) that for a lot of people (those with small children, or get motion sickness) they just won’t be able to do.
