One of the biggest reasons people visit Disney World is to ride all the different attractions across all four parks.
It can be so exciting to finally get to experience a newer attraction like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind for the first time or to ride a classic attraction like the Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean. Soon, there will be even more new attractions to enjoy at Disney World, as it was announced in August at the D23 fan convention that Disney World will soon have eight new attractions! We want you to have the most enjoyable ride experience, as we know you can spend a lot of time in line waiting to finally ride an attraction. Make sure to not do these seven things on Disney World rides to ensure your ride experience goes as smoothly as possible.
We know that one of the last things you want to think about while you are on vacation is rules, but make sure to keep these seven things in mind to be courteous to others around you.
Do Not Cut the Line
This is a pretty big one and should go without saying, but please don’t cut the line. It is not fair for others who have been waiting their turn, plus it can make the line clog up even more.
Also, do not try to cut into the Lightning Lane line, as there are times you will have to scan twice to prove that you did have a Lightning Lane reservation.
We totally get it. No one wants to spend their day waiting in line, but everyone needs to wait their turn. If you are looking to maximize the number of rides you can ride in a day, we have some great videos to help you plan out your day!
Do Not Step Over the Yellow Line
When you board an attraction, you may notice a yellow line painted on the floor. This is to ensure your safety. Attractions have many moving parts, and Disney takes safety very seriously.
Out of the Five Keys that Cast Members use as a guide, the Safety Key is the most important and always prioritized. Make sure to stay clear and stand behind the yellow line while you wait to board a ride or enter a theater that has automatic doors like Muppet*Vision 3D or The Hall of Presidents.
Do Not Ignore Cast Member Instructions
As mentioned above, Cast Members are trained to prioritize safety, and that is why it is so important to heed Cast Members’ instructions. While it may seem redundant to hear a Cast Member say something repeatedly, they are doing so to ensure everyone stays safe.
Make sure to listen to Cast Member instructions the first time to avoid any delays in your ride experience. For example, on the Haunted Mansion, when you get to the stretching room, the Cast Member will ask you to move to the “dead center” of the room because they need you away from the walls.
Don’t get us wrong, boarding on TRON Lightcycle / Run can be confusing, especially because it is not like any other ride load at Disney World. Make sure to listen to the instructions before it is your time to board.
There are some attractions where there is a yellow strap on the seat belt. You will see it on rides like Test Track, DINOSAUR, Star Tours, and Soarin’. It is super important that you listen to Cast Members when they ask you to pull on the yellow strap because the last thing you want is a faulty seat belt.
Don’t Be Rude to Single Riders
Certain rides at Disney World have single-rider lines, which allow people to get on an attraction faster by riding alone. This is mainly done on rides where there tends to be an extra seat in a row.
For example, on Test Track cars fit six riders, three in each row. If a party of four goes to ride, they will ride two in the front and two in the back, leaving two open seats for single riders to fill in.
While it can be awkward to sit next to a stranger, remember that the Cast Member told them to go there, and they are not trying to make you uncomfortable.
Is Single Rider at Disney World Even Worth it Anymore?
Don’t Talk Over the Pre-Show
We go to Disney World every day and trust us, we can quote the stretching room spiel from the Haunted Mansion in our sleep, but this can be disruptive to others.
You never know if it is someone’s first time visiting Disney World or riding an attraction, and they deserve to experience it in full. If you really can’t help yourself, you can always lip-sync the words.
Don’t Stand Up on Rides
This really goes back to safety again. Before you board an attraction, you will be told to remain seated and keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the ride vehicle at all times.
Some people have figured out that you can ‘“stand” while riding TRON Lightcycle / Run and often do so for a picture. This is dangerous and should not be done. Make sure to stay in your ride vehicle in the appropriate sitting position.
Don’t Forget to Secure Your Items
You will be reminded before boarding to make sure all loose items are safely secured. As said on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, “If any of you folks are wearin’ hats or glasses, best remove ’em — ’cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!”
You do not want to risk your hat or glasses flying off and potentially hitting another rider. Flying items can also cause a ride to stop and delay everyone’s day. In most cases, if you do lose an item on a ride, Cast Members will not be able to retrieve it until the park closes and the ride is able to be safely powered off.
