Hurricane Helene is on track to make landfall in Florida later today. The storm is bringing severe weather to much of Florida including heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding.

Disney World has made adjustments to their normal operations, and now Disney Cruise Line is warning passengers of potential delays.
Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall in the Florida panhandle in the evening on Thursday, September 26th, 2024. The hurricane is forecasted to bring severe weather including heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and possible tornadoes.

In anticipation of Hurricane Helene, Disney closed down Typhoon Lagoon and Disney World’s miniature golf courses. As well, Disney canceled Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on September 26th.

The storm is also impacting Disney Cruise Line. Disney Cruise Line reached out to guests who were sailing on the Disney Wish with a departure date of Friday, September 27th from Port Canaveral about a potential delay.

The ship is scheduled to arrive from its previous sailing the same day it departs. Due to Hurricane Helene, Disney is anticipating the cruise ship will arrive later than originally scheduled on September 27th which will impact guests on the September 27th sailing.

Disney Cruise Line is expecting the U.S. Coast Guard to close Port Canaveral due to the storm, and they will need to verify the channel is safe for cruise ship operations before reopening. This will cause the arrival of the Disney Wish to be later than anticipated on September 27th.

As a result, Disney Cruise Line is requesting that passengers arrive at least five hours after their assigned port arrival time, but no later than 7PM. This will allow the guests who are currently onboard to disembark before the next set of passengers arrive.

If you are utilizing motorcoach transportation from a Walt Disney World Resort or Hyatt Regency Orlando Hotel, you will receive additional communication about scheduled times.

Fortunately, this delay only results in a minor adjustment to itineraries as the ship will still be departing on September 27th. It may just mean that those getting off the cruise ship will be getting off a bit later than expected, and those boarding the ship will have some extra time to kill in the morning.
