NEWS: Disney World Is Now Under a Tornado Watch AND Tropical Storm Warning

As Hurricane Helene continues to make its way toward Florida, additional warnings have been issued for the Disney World and Universal Orlando areas.

A Tornado Watch was issued this morning for the counties which include both Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.

A Tornado Watch was issued this morning which includes Orange and Osceola Counties. Disney World is located in both Orange and Osceola counties, and Universal Orlando Resort is located in Orange County.

The Tornado Watch is currently in effect until 8PM. The National Weather Service has warned of tornadoes that are embedded in rain bands of Hurricane Helene.

In addition to the Tornado Watch, Orange and Osceola counties are also under a Tropical Storm Warning.  Weather forecasters are warning of the potential for strong winds and tornadoes. Current models are showing about 1-3 inches of rain which is capable of producing flooding in low-lying and urban areas, especially areas that have already received heavy rainfall this month.

At Disney World, Typhoon Lagoon and Disney World’s miniature golf course are closed for the day and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been canceled for September 26th.

Over at Universal Orlando Resort, Volcano Bay will be closed on September 26th. Both Disney World and Universal continue to monitor weather conditions and forecasts and will provide updates as needed.

If you are headed to the parks today, make sure you pack plenty of rain gear and continue to monitor weather reports for updates. The good news is that both Disney World and Universal have experienced a few hurricanes, so they are taking the necessary precautions to make sure guests and employees stay safe.
