Don’t tell the others, but the Japan Pavilion may be one of our favorites in the EPCOT World Showcase. Between the food, the atmosphere, and the souvenirs, this place has it ALL. Seriously, we could spend hours soaking up all the sights, smells, and sounds of the Japan Pavilion.
Know what else we love about this place? Every once in a while, fun little special events will pop up in the Japan Pavilion! And speaking of special events, there’s a new one coming soon.
Mark your calendars! On September 29th, a Otsukimi (Moon Viewing) event will take place at the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT.
The event will happen from 11:30AM to 6PM. If you’re interested in learning about Japanese culture and participating in an origami workshop where you can create rabbits out of paper, come visit the Japan Pavilion!
To give you a little background knowledge ahead of the event, EPCOT’s Mitsukoshi Store explains that, according to Japanese folklore, “A rabbit resides on the moon, pounding mochi and creating the mesmerizing patterns visible on the moon’s surface.” Next time you look up at the moon, you can imagine a little rabbit way up in the sky, pounding rice cakes on the moon.
The Japan Pavilion is stocked with all kinds of Japanese pop culture icons and traditional items — there’s so much to explore here! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
