Best Places in Disney World to Take a Nap (Other Than Your Room!)

Visiting Disney World can be EXHAUSTING!

We bet Aurora could tell us where to get some shut-eye…

Let’s face it — we’ve all hit that point on a Disney World trip where we’re in the parks, but all we really want is a quick power nap. But Disney World’s theme parks aren’t exactly designed for nappers. However, if you KNOW where to go, you might be able to sneak in a quick snooze without going back to your hotel, and we’re going to tell you the BEST places to do that.

So we’ll take a moment to wax nostalgic and think back to the days when we could get almost 40 minutes of shut-eye on Ellen’s Universe of Energy in EPCOT. Those were some of the best naps EVER. But you can still find some great places to close your eyes for a little while throughout Disney World’s theme parks.

Magic Kingdom

Carousel of Progress

Carousel of Progress is a CLASSIC Disney attraction and while we appreciate it for history’s sake, it’s also a 21-minute attraction IN a dark room with comfy chairs and air conditioning. Yes, it’s quite literally the PERFECT spot for a snooze. Also, the rotating motion of the theatre is quite soothing.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Okay, so hear us out. This attraction in Fantasyland can be pretty noisy, but if you bring in earplugs, you can also sit in THIS air-conditioned dark theater and grab a quick nap. Even better? You’re wearing 3-D glasses so no one can even see that you’re asleep! Enjoy those 12 minutes of snoozing.

Liberty Square Riverboat

Hop on the Liberty Belle if you’re feeling a bit tired and need to get in a nap. The trip around Tom Sawyer’s Island takes about 17 minutes, which is plenty of time to get in a quick snooze. Have a seat, enjoy the journey, and SLEEP. Even better, find the private interior room for some private sleep away from prying eyes.

Tom Sawyer Island

Here’s an even better idea: Grab a snooze on the Liberty Belle TO Tom Sawyer Island and then find a quiet place to nap ON Tom Sawyer Island. The Island isn’t visited by a lot of guests, so you’ll find plenty of peace and quiet, even on Magic Kingdom’s busiest days.

PeopleMover

The PeopleMover is a chill ride through Tomorrowland that even takes you into some darkness when it moves through some of Tomorrowland’s rides. Doesn’t that sound lovely? You can catch a full 16-minute nap on this ride that rarely has a long line.

Hall of Presidents

This is our TOP spot in Magic Kingdom to catch a nap because the Hall of Presidents animatronic show is a whopping 23 minutes long. You sleep through all that and you’re sure to feel energized for the rest of the day. You’re also seated indoors in air conditioning and it’s rarely crowded.

EPCOT

Spaceship Earth

We think it’s pretty obvious where one of the best naps in EPCOT is because it’s the park’s icon. That’s right, we’re talking about Spaceship Earth, which is a soothing ride through the history of communication to the lilting tones of Dame Judi Dench’s voice. This could be the best 15-minute nap you can find in the parks.

American Adventure

However, American Adventure offers up the MOST nap time you can get in EPCOT. This is a 29-minute show (one of the longest in Disney World) in a dark air-conditioned theater with padded seats, so it’s easy to get comfy here and nod off.

One Man’s Dream in Walt Disney Presents

One Man’s Dream is YOUR chance to dream because you’re in a theater with padded seats, a little darkness, and air conditioning. You can score a total of 15 minutes of snooze time here while Julie Andrews narrates.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Na’vi River Journey

Of all the parks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is probably the most RELAXING. Not to mention, there’s a LOT of shade. If you’re looking for a quality nap, though, head on over to Na’vi River Journey in Pandora for a soothing boat ride in darkness. The only downside, though, is that this ride is relatively short and the lines for this attraction can get long.

  1. If your little one falls asleep on the PeopleMover, the cast member will almost always allow you to continue for another round or more. When our little ones were breastfeeding we sometimes rode that thing 3 or 4 times in a row!

  2. I can verify that Hall of Presidents and American Adventure are excellent places for a nap, my husband and our 3 boys have all taken a nap in these places. I will add that I had a lovely doze while on the Skyliner, the cool breeze, quiet and gentle movement encouraged me to close my eyes……bliss.
