Disney World has certain restrictions in place on many rides to protect the health and safety of guests.

That’s where there are height requirements for many rides, as well as signs that indicate guests need to put their possessions in specified compartments to keep things from flying around. That’s the case with a NEW sign at Space Mountain, which now prohibits guests from all hand-held devices on the ride.
When we visited Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, we saw a new sign at the entrance of the ride.

The sign says “Hand-held or loose articles, including cell phones and cameras, are not permitted while riding. Items must be secured on the person, in vehicle storage pouch, or left with a non-rider.”

That means that you won’t be able to take photos or videos while you’re riding Space Mountain. It’s likely these signs are reminders to keep small items secure that could easily fly out of your hands while riding the attraction.
If you’re planning on riding Space Mountain in the future, keep this in mind! Most rides have pouches or compartments where you can store your belongings — just make sure not to forget to collect them before you leave!

Surprised this isn’t already a rule. One dropped cell phone on a fast moving ride can cause serious damage.
Put the rule in place for all rides and attractions! Eliminate the opportunity for others to ruin the presentation as designed by the Imagineers.
