Only True Experts Will Notice the CHANGES Made to the Carousel of Progress in Disney World

Changes are being made all over Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom

We’ve seen a new sign at the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover ride, a new narration for that ride as well, a closed store, a reopened store, and LOTS of construction progress on the TRON ride. But now we’ve got even MORE updates to check out.

Not too long ago, the finale scene underwent some changes at the classic Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress attraction, but now MORE changes have been made. Only true experts will spot the differences though — have YOU reached expert status? Let’s find out!

Let’s Go!

First, in the Valentine’s Day scene, you’ll notice a few changes in the kitchen. For reference, here’s what this scene looked like before.

Carousel of Progress – OLD VERSION of the Scene

Below is a photo of what it looks like now. Notice any changes?

It could just be the lighting, but Father’s jacket does seem to be a bit more vibrant or pronounced when it comes to those details near the end of his sleeves and around his collar.

Lookin’ Spiffy!

It also looks like some flowers have been added to the table next to him, and a few other things appear to have shifted around on or been added to that table.

Things Have Shifted Around a Bit

In the updated version of the scene, on the left-hand side of the room, you’ll also see some little red and pink hearts near the window above the sink.

Awww How Sweet!

Moving a bit further into the ride, once we get to the scene in the Fourth of July portion of the ride, there have been a few changes to the part where Uncle Orville is sitting in the bathtub.

Here’s what it has looked like before.

And here’s what it looks like now.

It looks like some of the props on the counter behind Uncle Orville are different or have been moved around, and it looks like he may have gotten some fresh towels too!

Oh, Uncle Orville!

Another scene that got some updates is the Halloween/fall scene with that iconic yellow kitchen. Here’s what that looked like before.

OLD Version of the Scene

Here’s what it looks like now. Those looking carefully will notice that the pumpkin with a silly and cute expression is now sitting right behind father. It once sat above the refrigerator but now it’s a bit more front-and-center.

Can You Spot the Differences?

You’ll also now spot some little bats hanging near the window above the sink. A few more items have also been placed above the refrigerator (including a cornucopia).

How Fun!

And, to the right of the room, you’ll now see a spooky cat just below some things hanging on the walls.

See the Cat?

A few other spaces may have gotten a bit of a refresh as well. Tell us about any tiny changes you spot along the way!

All in all, the changes aren’t huge or even as substantial as the ones made to the costumes for the characters in the last scene, but it’s still great to see this ride getting some extra love and attention!

  1. I will get to experience Carousel of Progress in October and can’t wait to look for updates. It’s one of my favorites, not only because it’s so retro, and so am I, but also because it’s a quiet corner in the madness of Magic Kingdom. We always ride at least twice, along with repeat rides on the People Mover. Long live rides for old people!

    1. I second that. One thing Disney has not addresssed is the fact that it seems that everything they do is aimed at the younger, more adventurous crowd. I’d love to see more things geared for the older, less wild population. One of the aspects I use to determine if Disney is trying to keep people like me entertained is the number of rides I walk right by and have no interest in riding. The list is growing.
