NEWS: Award-Winning Pixar Animator Ralph Eggleston Has Passed Away

We’re sorry to share that Ralph Eggleston — an Academy Award-winning Pixar animator — passed away on Monday, August 29th, at the age of 56.

Eggleston was known for his work on several Pixar movies, and he also worked on some Disney classics before moving to Pixar.  Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Eggleston went on to win several awards, including an Oscar, for his work in animation.

Ralph Eggleston passed away after battling pancreatic cancer for a long time, according to NBC. Pixar tweeted a tribute to the animator, saying they will be “forever grateful” for his work and influence.

 

While at Pixar, Eggleston worked on movies like Toy StoryMonsters, Inc.Finding NemoWall-ECarsThe Incredibles, Inside Out, and Soul. He won an Oscar in the category of animated short film for writing and directing the Pixar short For the Birds.

He also won Annie Awards for individual achievement for his work on Toy StoryFinding Nemo, and Inside Out.

Before his time at Pixar, Eggleston also contributed to AladdinThe Lion King, and Pocahontas at Disney. Friends have called him “a true titan in our art form” (NBC).

Eggleston will be missed by many, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
