Disney Guests Share the Best and WORST Moderate Resort Hotels

Staying on Disney World property is always a treat, but it can be overwhelming trying to pick what resort might be the best for you.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

That’s where we, well actually, YOU come in. That’s right, we’re taking a look at how AllEars readers ranked the moderate resorts. How did your favorite hotel do? Let’s find out!

Here’s how you ranked the Disney World moderate resorts!

5. DISNEY’S CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT

This tropically-themed hideaway isn’t so hidden anymore — not with the addition of the Skyliner, which has made this resort a hub for traffic. Guests have given this a 7.6 out of 10 rating, stating that they had issues with how far away food can be, the rooms are basic, and the recreation left much to be desired. Other guests enjoyed the ease of using the Skyliner and the tropical resort vibe of this moderate hotel.

4. DISNEY’S CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT

Next on the list is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, bringing in a rating of 7.77 out of 10. Guests of this resort love the deluxe resort feeling you get at moderate resort prices, but the resort can feel too big and offers only bus transportation. Other guests love the clean and spacious rooms and the various dining options at this resort.

3. DISNEY’S PORT ORLEANS RESORT — RIVERSIDE

Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside is a moderate resort that offers a lot of fun, recreational activities. Our readers gave this resort an 8.44 out of 10, because they enjoyed the spacious rooms, but didn’t love that there was only a curtain separating the bathroom from the bedroom (common in moderate and value resorts). Guests love the princess-themed rooms, but thought that the bus transportation left too much to be desired.

2. THE CABINS AT DISNEY’S FORT WILDERNESS RESORT AND CAMPGROUND

Coming in second place on the list are the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground with an 8.48 out of 10. The biggest cons for people staying here were the necessity of using an internal bus system PLUS Disney’s bus transportation outside of the resort, and the poor upkeep of the cabins. Guests did love the laid-back, camping-style atmosphere and recreational activities, though!

1. DISNEY’S PORT ORLEANS RESORT — FRENCH QUARTER

And finally, the BEST moderate resort according to AllEars readers is Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter.  This top spot snagged a 9 out of 10 rating from you all due to it’s dining and transportation offerings, along with the New Orleans theming! Guests were quick to note that Mickey beignets were definitely a reason to stay at this resort, and the boat to Disney Springs makes for a nearly effortless non-park day.

  1. I have stayed at all if these. Number 1 in my book is Coronado Springs. It has the feel of a deluxe. I actually like them and they all have pros and cons. POFQ is wonderful because it’s smaller and seems more like a neighborhood than resort. CBR and POR are both big but have great amenities. FW is great for families and offers the chance to get a “campground” feel while having the amenities of a cabin.

  2. I’ve only stayed at Riverside out of all of these. I loved how quiet it was, and how you felt like you were going home to a little cottage in the Alligator Bayou section. This was way back when having an annual pass got you a really nice discount on rooms. We paid $79 a night! I’ll probably never be able to stay there again so I’m glad we got to do it once, and we really loved the feel of that resort. Peaceful is the word that comes to mind.

  3. I agree. POFQ is my favorite moderate because of the small size. Regardless of where your room is, it normally isn’t a terrible walk to the main building and there is only one bus stops. I personally don’t care for the resorts with lots of bus stops.
