Disney Genie has officially launched in Disney World, bringing guests new ways to plan their days and the ability to pay to “skip the lines” at popular attractions across all four parks.

And, if you’re opting to purchase Disney Genie+ (which lets you book Lightning Lane reservations at 46 different attractions for $15 per person, per day), you’ll have access to something extra in the My Disney Experience app — new PhotoPass AR Lenses! Here’s how they work!
All of the new Disney Genie+ features are loaded directly into the My Disney Experience app, so all you need to do to use the new AR Lenses is open up the app and navigate to the welcome screen by tapping the three lines in the bottom righthand corner. You’ll see Disney PhotoPass Lenses as an option!

When you get to the Lenses screen, you’ll see this. You can only use this feature with the purchase of Genie+, so if you haven’t purchased it you won’t get past this screen.

Once you purchase Genie+, you’ll see a variety of different lenses appear! If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom you’ll be able to use the Birthday Cake Castle lense (which is a call back to Disney World’s 25th-anniversary celebrations).

You can take selfies with the infamous Birthday Cake Castle and pretend like you were in Magic Kingdom in 1996! When you snap a pic using an AR lense, it saves to your phone’s camera roll. You also have the option to share photos!

You can explore the history of Cinderella Castle in the “Castle Nostalgia” Filter, from construction to today’s 50th anniversary look.

At EPCOT you can test your cooking skills with the new Ratatouille lense. You have to be in the specific parks to access the Ratatouille or Birthday Cake lenses, but you can use this Lady and the Tramp lense from anywhere!

You can also make yourself look like the Genie from anywhere. If you really want to, that is.

Note that these lenses don’t disappear after you leave Disney — you’ll have access to them for up to 45 days after you purchase Genie+. So, yes, you can try that Lady and the Tramp lense at home with your cat or dog!

Disney has shared that these lenses are just the beginning, so more will likely be released in the future. And, if you want to give them a try for free, select lenses are available through the Snapchat app right now.
Of course, we’ll continue to bring you a look at all of the new offerings that are part of Disney Genie, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
