Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk through Machu Picchu without all the tourists? Well, even if you traveled there, you’d certainly have to deal with the crowds who visit this famous site every day.

However, what if we told you that touring Machu Picchu was something you could do in Orlando, minus the tourists? Well, you can, thanks to the new Machu Picchu VR Experience at the Florida Mall.
We were recently invited to check out the Machu Picchu VR Experience in Orlando, which you can find at the Exhibition and Experience Center at The Florida Mall. Depending on the day you visit, the experience will cost anywhere from $25 to $29 per adult and $20 to $24 for children ages 10 to 17, students, and seniors over 60. A group bundle of four or more tickets is also available at a discounted price per ticket.

So this is an elevated virtual reality experience that lasts around 45 minutes. Tours can be done solo or with a group of up to six people. You can even customize your experience in English with Terry Crews narrating, British narration with a documentary tone, Spanish, and Portuguese. In the English version, Teri, the AI robot, is your tour guide, as voiced by Crews. You also have Larry the llama as your companion.

Once you’re ready, you’ll put on your VR headsets. There is a team member available to make sure that the headsets fit comfortably and that you can see everything clearly. There’s a blue dot you’ll see in the headset that will help make sure that your eyes are in focus and everything is within the frame.

Then you’re ready for the experience where you’ll step back in time and visit ancient Incan villages, landscapes, temples, mountaintops, and caves. The experience is built from footage captured during the pandemic, which means that Machu Picchu was shot without any people in the frames with drones, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and guidance from historians.

However, we will warn you now: if you are prone to motion sickness, VR may not be for you. Also, you will experience the illusion of heights, so if you have problems with that, you might also want to proceed with caution. As of now, the experience is only expected to run through June, but there are hopes that it might be extended beyond that. A new experience is also on the way this summer that will take you through a black hole.

So we can’t really even describe just how incredible the experience is…it’s really something you’ll want to experience for yourself. So if you have a chance to check it out, we highly recommend it!
