EVERYTHING Is About To Change in Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is pretty much just a big playground for us Star Wars nerds that lets us live out our biggest dreams in fighting the First Order, piloting the Millennium Falcon, eating space-themed food, meeting some of our favorite Star Wars characters, and more.

Well, hold on to your lightsabers, Star Wars fans: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland is about to get some MASSIVE changes that could change, well, EVERYTHING in the land. Let’s talk about the updates coming to Batuu on April 29th.

Timeline Change

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is getting a timeline refresh to include more eras featured in Star Wars movies and TV shows. The current timeline is pretty much during the recent slate of sequel movies, but the new timeline will cover generations of Star Wars, including the original trilogy and the prequel films.

This will bring in more characters to the land, including characters from the original trilogy like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Leia will also be sporting an entirely new costume based on the 2015 comic series, Star Wars Battlefront, and other expanded universe material.

You’ll also still get to see current characters like The Mandalorian and Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, Rey, and R2-D2.

Darth Vader will also be appearing with Imperial Troopers to hunt down the Rebellion. He’ll be moving from his Disney Visa photo spot in Tomorrowland, which will be taken over by Kylo Ren.

New Music

Disney is also updating the music you’ll hear inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You’ll finally get to hear John Williams’ beloved scores from the films, like  “Main Title” and “Force Theme,” as you enter Batuu. You’ll also hear other classic Star Wars pieces while you’re wandering around the outpost.

More importantly, the Cantina Band song will play inside Oga’s Cantina.

Shopping Updates

The First Order Cargo Shop will become Black Spire Surplus, a military salvage operation with artifacts from across the history of the galaxy. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will also be updated to display different one-of-a-kind items from its past. Droid Depot will bring in an earlier generation of the Mubo family to operate the depot. You’ll be able to find prototypes of BB-style droids and accessories. In Savi’s Workshop, you may even see Luke Skywalker meeting up with Savi to learn more about lightsabers and the Force.

Now, keep in mind these changes are in addition to the new mission that’s coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run on May 22nd in both Disney World and Disneyland, which will include new characters, scenes, and the ability to choose where the mission goes.
