NEWS: Disney Makes A Big Change to Beloved Character Appearance

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has always been designed as a living, breathing corner of the Star Wars universe, and now Disneyland is making some exciting changes that fans will definitely want to know about.

Batuu is evolving by bringing new energy, new stories, and new characters to the Outer Rim outpost on April 29th. As Disney refreshes the land, guests can expect even more immersive encounters with some of their favorite characters — including Leia Organa!

One of the biggest updates coming to Galaxy’s Edge is the arrival of Leia Organa on Batuu. That’s right, the beloved Rebel leader will soon be in Batuu, joining other iconic characters as part of a larger expansion that includes Darth Vader and Han Solo. These legendary heroes and villains will be integrated into the land’s ongoing narrative, giving guests new opportunities to interact with some of the most important figures in Star Wars history in a new way.

Leia’s presence on Batuu comes with a major twist: she’s debuting a brand-new, never-before-seen look. Instead of recreating one of her classic film costumes, Disney has designed Leia’s outfit from the ground up, drawing inspiration from her appearances in the 2015 comic series, Star Wars Battlefront, and other expanded universe material. The result is a unique costume that feels authentic to the Galaxy’s Edge timeline while still honoring Leia’s legacy. Guests may spot her near the Millennium Falcon, where she’ll recruit travelers and locals alike to help keep Luke Skywalker safe.
