Will you be spending Cinco de Mayo in Disney World? If so, what are your plans? If you’re looking for something fun to do on that day, we may very well have the PERFECT event for you.

From May 1st through May 5th, a special Cinco de Mayo brunch is happening at Frontera Cocina in Disney Springs…and you’re invited. You’ll get to eat some great food, enjoy some fun cocktails, and experience some great entertainment. We recently got a preview of the event, so we’re going to tell you all about it.
You’ll be able to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Frontera Cocina all five days throughout the day during the restaurant’s opening hours (11 AM to 11: 30 PM Friday and Saturday, 11 AM to 11 PM on Sundays-Thursdays). The celebration includes a live mariachi band, too!

We visited earlier in the day and were treated to the brunch menu, which you can get on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM. So we had a Cinco de Mayo brunch!

To drink, we had the Popsicle Margarita, which will be offered throughout the celebration. You get mango popsicles served in a smoky margarita. This is a light, refreshing drink, and as the popsicle melts, you get more of the mango flavor. The margarita packs a punch, but the flavor is well-balanced.

We also tried the Hola Hugo, which is made with Mijento blanco tequila, El Baijo sparkling wine, Rockey’s botanical liqueur, lime juice, and a hint of elderflower liqueur for $18. It’s another light, refreshing cocktail. We loved how you got that hint of elderflower with each sip, while the lime juice added a lovely acidity. This is a cocktail we’d order again.

The meal started with chips, salsas, and guacamole that was served to the whole table. The chips are housemade and are crunchy and perfectly salted, making them prime for dipping into the creamy guacamole, which also has pepitas, which we loved. You also get tomatillo salsa and a classic red salsa, and both are great just drizzled over the top of the chips.

Then we had the Chipotle Chicken Flautas, made with Crispy chipotle chicken tortilla flautas, Chihuahua cheese, red garlicky beans, roasted tomatillo-avocado salsa, and garnished with crema, Cotija cheese, and fresh herbs for $15. These were so crispy and were LOADED with chicken. We also loved the creamy crema drizzle and the crunchy cabbage slaw. The salsa has a good smoky, yet acidic, flavor that makes it perfect for dipping.

Then we went for a more breakfast-like dish, the Huevos Motuleños, which is two fried eggs on a crispy tostada with roasted tomatoes, spicy habanero, country ham, peas, sweet fried plantains, queso fresco, white onion, cilantro, and black beans refritos for $19. It’s so well-cooked, and although it has traditional breakfast flavors, the salsa punches it up a bit. Note that if you’re averse to spicy food, you might want to order the tomatillo salsa on the side and skip the more fiery habanero.

The Chilaquiles are made with Poblano rajas, cotija and chihuahua cheese, black beans, tortilla strips, and a fried egg. Choice of salsa roja or salsa verde for $18. These have layers and layers of flavor, with everything soaked in a delicious sauce. The egg was perfectly cooked with a broken yolk that adds richness to everything else. Of everything we ate, this was our favorite. We will warn you that the heat level is probably around medium, so if you’re staying away from spicy food, you might want to skip ordering this.

We also went with the Pancakes, which are Mini cornmeal pancakes with butter and maple syrup for $10. They’re simple and perfectly cooked. They also make a great brunch dessert that can help you cool down after those spicy entrees.

Overall, we enjoyed celebrating Cinco de Mayo early at Frontera Cocina, so if you’re looking for a great meal and drinks during that weekend, head on over to Disney Springs for some Cinco de Mayo fun.
We’ll be visiting even more Disney World restaurants soon, so check back with AllEars again for more.
