Tips about Strollers
We visited WDW in early December with our 2-month-old granddaughter. Before we left I ordered canvas bags from Target.com for her stroller and infant seat. We used the strollers right up to the gate, and then easily slipped them into the bags and set them at the airplane entrance. The flight crews all commented on what a great idea this was. The bag does not protect them from all damage, but it certainly keeps them clean. (They can be used at home to keep the stroller clean in the trunk as well). - mickderb
If you are renting a stroller and you need it for more than a day, you can do a multi-day rental. I stood in a line our first day to rent a double stroller for $15. On the second day, after standing in another line, I asked for a multi-day rental (three days, to be exact). I was given tickets for all three days at a discounted price! Each day, instead of waiting in line for a new stroller I just showed the attendant my stub and off we went, bypassing the line! In addition, the discount on multi-day rentals is 10 percent per day -- every little bit helps!
On our previous trip to Walt Disney World, our children were ages 2 and 4. We brought umbrella strollers for each of them. Before leaving, I sewed fabric covers over each of the plastic handles. The fabric was bright and since all four handles matched (the strollers did not), it was quite easy to retrieve both of them in the stroller parking areas. When the strollers were moved, the attendants always kept them together because they were obviously for the same family. The uglier and brighter the fabric you choose, the better -- they're easier to find and it's less likely that anyone would want to take them! - Julie
During our recent stay at the Dolphin, we arranged stroller rental through the Dolphin's concierge desk. The Dolphin arranges this through an outside service. The charge was $7 per day plus $10 delivery charge. We requested the stroller late one evening and it was delivered to the bell desk by 9 a.m. the next day. It was a nice Evenflow stroller with a canopy, a big storage area below the seat, and a cupholder. The stroller didn't fold up very small for the bus ride, but otherwise was a great convenience. We took two umbrella strollers on our last trip and wanted a way to keep them clean and together since we needed to check them as baggage. We bought a bag at a sporting goods store designed to hold a golf bag for about $10 on sale. Both umbrella strollers fit comfortably so one would be just fine. We even had room to stuff in a few souvenir sweat shirts. Custom stroller bags are available from some kid catalog places,but they can cost over $100. This is a much cheaper and easier option! - Diane
MAGIC KINGDOM - If you are using your own stroller to go to the Magic Kingdom take the Ferry Boat rather than the Monorail. You won't have to fold your stroller. Just stroll on and stroll off!!! - MyersFam1

When we think of strollers, most people think of toddlers. The strollers at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Epcot are large enough to accomodate a 6 year old. (Unfortunately this is not true at Disney Springs.) The rental may seem expensive to some, but it is worth the parental sanity. Children 6 and younger are unable to keep up when you want to rush to the otherside of the park to make that priority seating reservation. The stroller can be a lifesaver. Plus when they are not in it, you have a place to keep all your treasures. - Kathy Donofrio
I have a toddler and always rent the strollers at the parks. I bring a couple of binder clips or clothes pins to hold the theme park map onto the canopy of the stroller. The canopy is a nice flat surface and the map is always open and handy when you need to find a restroom for a potty-training toddler. Since there are no cup holders to speak of on the strollers, we purchased two souvenir cups ($4 each) filled with popcorn on Main Street. After they were emptied, we were able to fasten them to the stroller by undoing the pail-like handle and attaching it to the stroller handle. We also use them on our umbrella stroller and double jogger and can even fill them with ice to keep drinks cold longer. - Melissa Withers
Many people use either the seat (if the child walks a lot) or the basket underneath to stash stuff in. It may prove helpful to keep everything in your backpack or diaper bag at all times, so you only have one bag to grab when trying to make that last minute bus, etc.
Bring your own strollers! After lunch, we checked out the Kilimanjaro Safari before settling on the train ride to Conservation Station. Great accessibility for the wheelchair, my son simply rolled right on in his power chair, but if you have a stroller you must park it at the train station (tip: if you have your own collapsible stroller you are allowed to bring it along...a good idea since the hike in Conservation Station is a long one with a few hills). The ride was scenic, but no animals. After the train ride, we looked around & started the hike to Conservation Station but turned around since we no longer had our strollers (carrying 2 40 lb boys in 100 degree heat depleted our energy!). - Cherie and Joel Belcher
Strollers roll on fine and kids can remain seated on the ferryboats between TTC and MK. Strollers can also roll onto the larger boats that run the MK-Ft. Wilderness Loop. The smaller motor launches from Ft.W and the Grand Floridian cannot be rolled onto. Strollers and wheel chairs must be folded prior to boarding for motor launches and guests using wheel chairs must be able to walk onboard.
We have a lot of experience maneuvering our double-wide stroller around the "world" and in general it fits everywhere a standard wheelchair can go, but gets twice the dirty looks in a crowd that a regular stroller gets. Connecting two umbrella strollers together side-by-side makes them too wide for most turnstiles and gates, but fold and go on a WDW bus much easier than the double-wide. The Contemporary monorail station can be accessed by elevator.
Also, the AK walkway surfaces are really rough and tough to push a stroller on. I think that is why they rent out strollers with the larger wheels. - Jim Hunt
