Over a year after it first debuted, Universal’s Epic Universe remains a major draw for first-time and repeat guests alike.

We’ve visited Epic a lot over the last year, and over that time we’ve picked up several tricks about visiting Orlando’s newest theme park, starting at the park’s entrance.
Whether you’re heading to Epic Universe in the morning — for the hotel guests-exclusive Early Entry or the park’s standard operating hours — or later on throughout the day, you’re liable to find crowds of guests milling about waiting to enter the park. And that’s where our lesson comes in.

As you’re approaching security and ticketing, make sure you veer to the left. As we’ve discussed before when talking about which direction to head in theme parks like the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, members of crowds tend to head to the right. Therefore, heading to the left should lead to shorter lines at security and scans, and in turn entry into the park.

And because you’ll get into the park faster, you’ll be able to enjoy more offerings! So, once you get into Epic Universe, you’ll be inside the Celestial Park area, which features two attractions. But because everyone will likely head to the first ride they see, you can enter the four other portals connected to Celestial Park to experience other attractions!

These four portals include Super Nintendo World, featuring areas based on the world of both Mario and Donkey Kong…

…Dark Universe, based on Universal’s iconic stable of monsters including Dracula. Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and more…

…the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, Universal’s latest land dedicated to the boy wizard, this time based on the city of Paris as presented in the Fantastic Beasts series…

…and Isle of Berk, based on the beloved How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

Within these five lands, you’ll find eleven rides — Constellation Carousel, Curse of the Werewolf, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Mine-Cart Madness, Stardust Racers, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, Harry Potter and the Battle of the Ministry, Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge, and Yoshi’s Adventure — and numerous restaurants, shops, shows, and character meet and greet opportunities.

If you’re going to be in the park after dark, you can also now experience the brand-new nighttime show Celestial Goodnight, featuring pyrotechnics, lasers, and fountains telling the story of the park through sections themed to each of the aforementioned portals and Celestial Park.

Next time you’re heading into Epic Universe, make sure to veer to the left to make your way through security so that you can begin experiencing all the park has to offer as quickly as possible.
