You Won’t Believe the Crowds Causing a 145+ Wait in Magic Kingdom

The day has FINALLY come! We’re absolutely thrilled that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has finally reopened in Magic Kingdom after a year and a half of refurbishment.

We’re not the only ones who are excited, though, that’s for sure, and these crowds prove it! As today is the official reopening day, we knew we had to see just how intense the crowds would be around Frontierland, and WOW, we weren’t disappointed!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is part of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system as a Tier 1 attraction, the highest there is, but as you can imagine, it was absolutely sold out for today! That means that unless you already grabbed one, you would have to wait in line like normal with the rest of the population in the park. But if you’d want to grab a Lightning Lane for a different day, we made a free guide!

We got into the park right at rope drop, and crowds were intense. When we walked up to Frontierland, the line was already back to the Country Bear Musical Jamboree! The My Disney Experience App showed the ride at a 145-minute wait. Yes, that’s a whole two hours and 25 minutes.

But luckily for us, we had a Lightning Lane, and we could skip the line! When we got up to the front from the side bridge, we looked back and saw that it was wall-to-wall people past the bridge in front of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Pretty much every inch of this back area was taken up.
