Something Weird Is Happening With Disney World Crowds Today…

It’s Presidents’ Day weekend, and in the past, most long weekends in Disney World have meant higher crowds.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

From the way we saw Lightning Lane prices shoot up this past weekend all the way through the middle of the week, we were expecting to see the parks PACKED. However, when we stepped into Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, we were pretty shocked, and NOT in the way we expected.

When we walked up to the park entrance, we noticed that things weren’t dead, by any means, but they weren’t as packed as we expected. It was a few hours after rope drop, however, so we wondered if the crowds were deeper into the park.

Lines at the front

As we continued onto Hollywood Boulevard, crowds stayed about the same. There were certainly people about, but again, it wasn’t shoulder to shoulder like those Lightning Lane prices made us suspect. However, it’s possible crowds were higher in other parks, such as EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, especially as they had some of the highest Lightning Lane prices.

Crowds on Hollywood Boulevard

The true test was heading into Toy Story Land, as this is often the part of the park that gets the MOST crowded due to its popularity and overall design/layout. This was more shoulder-to-shoulder, but again, not nearly as wild as we were expecting.

Lines for attractions like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway did seem to be relatively long, but nothing too over-the-top or unmanageable. Plus, since it wasn’t too hot outside, it made standing in line slightly less painful. There’s nothing like baking in the sun for hours while you just want to ride an attraction!

That’s quite the line!

Overall, the crowds weren’t as large in this park as we had predicted, and based on wait times overall, they didn’t seem to be too intense elsewhere either. At around 4 PM, the longest wait in the park was Test Track at 120 minutes, which is pretty typical to see on a normal day!
