EPCOT has its food festivals, but have you heard about the one in Disney Springs that you DON’T need a park ticket for?

We are currently in the midst of Disney Springs’ food festival, Flavors of Florida. The festival sees Disney Springs restaurants come up with new food and drinks inspired by Florida. The festival is running till August 10th, so we’re trying to get as much as we can — including some new eats at Summer House on the Lake!
We’ve already been to a few different places to try their new menu items. This time, we went to Summer House on the Lake to try some of their new eats. Summer House on the Lake is one of Disney Springs’ newer locations, as it opened up in 2023.

The dining spot is a lakefront eatery with a California-inspired menu. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating. You’ll find it on the west side of Disney Springs, across from the AMC and Salt & Straw.

Alright, let’s talk about what we ordered. First off, we grabbed the St. Augustine Strawberry Refresher for $17. It was a bright, tropical blend of Florida cane sugar vodka, Aperol, lime juice, pineapple juice, and strawberry purée. You could definitely taste that lime and pineapple flavor in the drink at the beginning. It’s like a zesty sour kick to the drink. You get the Aperol and strawberry flavor at the backend of the drink.

The Florida cane sugar vodka was fine, it gives a gin kind of approach to it against the Aperol. It was probably the right choice for the drink, and we really liked how it foamed at the top. There’s also mint at the top, which gives the drink a really fresh feel. It was a light drink which was nice, and we didn’t find it tasted too strong.

For food, we started with the ‘Devil Crab’ Croquette for $15.95. The appetizer is flavorful deviled crab cakes made with sweet, flaky blue crab and topped with a bright, garlicky mojo aioli. One side of the crab is still hard-shelled, and the belly is really soft. It’s also got that aioli sauce to dip it into, so perfect for those who like eating this with sauce.

The crab has lots of fresh peppers in it, and you can taste both the crab and the peppers very well. There’s nothing we found fishy or overpowering with the snack. It comes with fresh lime to squeeze on the crab as well. This is more on the appetizer side than a meal. It was really good!

For our main dish, we got the ‘8th Street Frita’ Burger with truffle fries for $17.95. It’s a new take on a classic made with prime beef chorizo and served with crispy potatoes and salsa de tomate. This burger was interesting, to put it one way. It’s like a handmade ground beef burger patty, but they call it a beef chorizo. We didn’t get that, it tasted more like a charred burger — almost like a hamburger steak feel to it.

The tomato salsa gave the sandwich a chipotle vibe in a way. We thought the sandwich was really good, and it gave us a sense that we had tasted something like it before. There are also cut-up onions at the bottom of the burger. The sandwich was just phenomenal, and our favorite out of what we got during this visit.

It’s not bad for the price you can get it at, and you get a choice of sides. We went with the truffle fries, and they were a good, solid choice. All in all, this was a great meal — you should 100% try these new items if you’re a burger or seafood fan!

We’re going to be checking out a lot more places for the Flavors of Florida. Make sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more reviews, so you know the places you should hit before the festival ends.
