As the Disney World Resorts start to reopen today, the transportation is also taking guests to their destinations on Disney property again!

Disney transportation is limited currently without the use of Minnie Vans, Monorails, Skyliners, or other resort transportation. While other Disney Transportation will be running to take guests to hotels and the Disney Springs area when the parks reopen, the Disney buses are currently the only form of Disney-provided transportation available right now.
Since there are multiple new guidelines surrounding how the parks and resorts will be able to operate, transportation has had to make a few changes, just like the resorts! And, we’ve a full guide to everything you can expect the next time you ride a Disney bus!

Just like the rest of the resorts, the Bus Stops were pretty empty while we were waiting to head to Disney Springs. There were markers on the ground to keep guests distanced from one another…

…as well as hand-sanitizer dispensers located in the area so guests could wash their hands before and after the bus (since they were in Disney Springs, too).

While you can usually check out the arrival and departure times of the buses, the monitor wasn’t on at our bus station. Although we knew that there would be a reduced amount of buses in use during Disney World’s reopening, we were still a little surprised at how long it took us to have a bus arrive at our resort.

Since there have been some changes at the resorts with Mobile Check-in for dining, plastic-covered amenities in rooms, and more, the Disney Buses have also been decked out in a bit of a makeover. There’s an entirely new seating system onboard where guests are assigned a “zone” to sit it.

Each group is assigned a zone (if you’re alone, you’ll get an entire section to yourself). However, if you are traveling with a large group, you’ll get two zones if you need enough seats to accommodate your party size.

Although Molly originally traveled by herself to Disney Springs, another party was on the bus with her on the way back. As a distancing measure, one party was asked to enter through the front door and the other was lead through the back door to sit in completely different sections apart from each other.

Certain seats on the bus were designated as unavailable to add more places where guests could distance themselves. The bus drivers wiped down seats, handrails, and other high-touch surfaces when needed.

There were also dividers in between seating zones and other sections of the bus. Whenever we arrived to Disney Springs, we could also see that there were enough distancing markers on the ground to accommodate a long line of people.

While our monitor wasn’t working at the resort, Disney Springs had a directory board that just told guests which bus stop belonged to only the hotels that are open at this time.

We only spotted one line being used for everybody (even guests with wheelchairs and ECVs). However, parties with guests who need extra assistance had a separate gate they could exit through near the front of the queue.

Although our ride ended up being simple once we were onboard, it did take us a very long time to actually be able to get on the Disney bus. While it was smooth sailing afterwards, we are curious to see what the new system will be like when the parks and resorts are more crowded.

Although other Disney Transportation will be re-pening soon, we will also keep you updated on how the new bus system works with larger crowds!
