The Regal Eagle Smokehouse at Epcot’s American Adventure has been tempting our taste buds in previews for months, but we assumed it would stick to the relatively sedate tone of the rest of the pavilion.

Well, it seems Disney has been burying a big twist because the Regal Eagle Smokehouse is going to be hosted by a certain patriotic character…

Sam the Eagle, from the Muppets!
It seems like after the end of The Muppets Present: Great Moments in History, Sam has gotten a new gig hosting Epcot’s newest dining experience. He’s even on the sign.

The theme of the new eatery is Sam’s Centennial Cook-off: A Salute to All Cook-Offs But Mostly Barbecue.

Every item on the menu must pass Sam’s discerning, unibrowed muster to be the pinnacle of… American Cuisine. He’ll also make you read the word American in his voice, just by existing.

He’ll also appear on exclusive merch found only at this location. This will be the second Muppet-themed eatery at the resort after PizzeRizzo at Hollywood Studios. We’re also hoping that this means the other Muppets will make an appearance, perhaps in a revival of the popular Liberty Square show. After all, Sam is most fun when things don’t go his way.
The Regal Eagle was set to open in December; now it’s looking more like January or February.

I totally would eat here! Not only do I love BBQ, Sam is a trip and I love America, too!
Good lord. No surprise here. They are determined to flood the entire EPCOT with characters. Another kiddie park. Sickening.
