The Disney World Essentials We Always Skip and Why

We talk about water bottles, ponchos, first aid kits, and all the little things that can make or break a park day. And honestly, we still stand by those recommendations. These are essentials for a lot of people, and for good reason. That said, here’s a little behind-the-scenes truth from the AllEars team. Even though we recommend these items all the time, some of us personally skip them. Not because they’re useless, but because of how we tour, how often we go, and what we’re willing to carry. So if you’ve ever wondered, “Do the experts actually use all this stuff?” the answer is… sometimes yes and sometimes no. Here’s why.

The Water Bottle We Preach but Don’t Always Pack

We will never stop telling you to bring a reusable water bottle to Disney World. Hydration is not optional, especially in Florida. That being said, one member of our team admitted they almost never bring one. The big caveat is that they rarely do full park days.

If you’re popping into a park for a few hours, grabbing a meal, and leaving, lugging around a bulky bottle can feel unnecessary. Instead, they grab free ice water from quick-service locations or just get water wherever they’re already eating. It works for their touring style, but we still think most guests who are visiting, especially for a full week, are better off bringing one.

And if something does go wrong, they know exactly where First Aid locations are in each park. For frequent visitors who know the layout like the back of their hand, this can feel like one extra thing taking up bag space.

At the end of the day, these essentials are still essentials for a reason. But how you tour Disney World matters. Your park length, comfort level, and tolerance for carrying stuff should always guide what actually goes in your bag.
