Magic Kingdom’s most iconic view may be entering a new phase — quietly.

Disney fans know that when wording changes in the My Disney Experience app, it’s rarely accidental. A new notice has appeared that hints at work already in progress at Cinderella Castle, potentially signaling the start of a long-anticipated update many Disney fans have been waiting to see!
If you’ve opened the My Disney Experience app recently and did a double-take, you’re not alone, because Disney may have just given us our clearest hint yet that Cinderella Castle’s repainting has officially begun!

While we’ve known for a while that Cinderella Castle was scheduled to return to its more classic grey and blue color scheme, Disney hadn’t shared exactly when that transformation would start. Now, a newly added notice in the app reads: “Cinderella Castle is undergoing a magical transformation,” and for Disney fans, that phrasing feels very telling.

The castle’s bold pink, blue, and gold look (introduced for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary) has been part of the Magic Kingdom skyline for several years now. While it marked a special celebration, many fans have been eagerly anticipating a return to the softer, more traditional tones that feel timeless and storybook-esque. Seeing this update appear in the app strongly suggests that work may already be underway, even if Disney hasn’t made a formal announcement just yet.
The repaint is set to start with draining the moat so that they can get equipment up near the castle. Disney has said the equipment should be out of sight by noon each day, so it may make sense to wait until then to get your iconic castle photo.

Of course, Disney is famously careful with its wording, and “magical transformation” leaves plenty of room for interpretation. But historically, app notices like this tend to appear once projects are actively happening — or about to be very visible to guests. That means if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom soon, you may start spotting signs of change, whether that’s subtle touch-ups or more noticeable progress over time.
We visited this morning and didn’t see any obvious signs of construction here just yet.

The good news? Disney is known for handling castle work with extreme care, often working section by section to keep Cinderella Castle photo-ready whenever possible. So while the repainting might take some time, the magic (and the icon itself) isn’t going anywhere!

Whether you love the current look or have been counting down to the return of classic Cinderella Castle vibes, it will be exciting to see this next chapter begin! One thing’s for sure, though, Magic Kingdom’s most iconic centerpiece is once again living up to its reputation for transformation.
We’re keeping an eagle eye out for visible change happening in real time at Cinderella Castle every day. Be sure to check back in with us to see its progress unfold and catch up on the latest Disney news, updates, and more!
