Your Magic Kingdom Castle Photos Are About To Look Completely Different

When you visit Magic Kingdom, there’s always one MONEY shot you have to get when taking photos in that park. That would be a shot of the park’s icon, Cinderella Castle.

However, your photos of Cinderella Castle are about to change because the Castle will soon be going through a huge update: it’s getting repainted!

In January 2026, Cinderella Castle will be undergoing painting. The current castle color scheme of pinks and blues will be replaced with a scheme that’s more silvers and blues, similar to how the Castle appeared before it received its current color scheme, just in time for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2021.

While the painting is happening, Cinderella Castle is probably going to be covered with scrims, screens, and maybe even construction walls. So if you were planning to get a photo in front of the Castle, you’ll want to get to Magic Kingdom ASAP. Disney has stated that it expects the repainting to be completed in the later in 2026. Now, we don’t know how long that will actually be, and the last time it was repainted, much of it was done while Disney World was closed in 2020.

However, we do know sort of HOW it might be repainted. When it was repainted in 2020, parts of the castle had numbers on it, just like a paint-by-number set you might’ve used as a kid. Each number represented a certain color. So certain numbers got one paint color, while other numbers got other colors. It’s kinda’ brilliant in its simplicity.
