“It’s Finally Happening” — Disney Fans React to HUGE Magic Kingdom News

Back in August 2025, Disney announced that Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom would be undergoing a BIG change! The castle will be repainted from the 50th Anniversary colors back to the classic blue and white. Later, Disney announced that the repainting would begin in January 2026.

The bad news is that means the castle will be undergoing construction, but Disney is doing its best to minimize the impact on guests. Once repainting starts, the cranes will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day. There will also be some minor changes to Let The Magic Begin welcome show, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, and Happily Ever After starting January 28th. Work on the castle is expected to be completed later in 2026.

The current pink color on Cinderella Castle was introduced for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and has stuck around since then. But starting in January, the castle will begin its transformation back to the classic blue and white colors.

Opinions on the news were a bit all over the place. @disney2themax commented that it is “Great news!” and they can “take pictures of it again (hated the pink)!” @shlopez13 also agreed, writing, “It’s finally happening!” @truckscarsandmickeybars_ was also on board with the change, saying, “Bringing old Skool Cindy back 😍😍😍”

While some of our readers are excited about the new colors, many of you prefer the current pink. @campbellec wrote that they “really liked the pink” and thought “it looked so magical.” @kaitlyn.forry also agreed, writing, “I liked the pink.” @tylersmith.outcast thought “the 50th anniversary design was its best look.”

Some are worried about how visible the repainting work will be in Magic Kingdom. While Disney has said it plans to lower the cranes by noon each day, will other aspects of the work be visible? @kimberlyherren1203 is definitely worried about that aspect of the process; they wrote, “I understand revamping things, but who wants to see cranes all around the castle on their expensive Disney trip?” @erincaseyt also shared the sentiment, “My mom will be going for the first time, and I want her to see the actual castle, not cranes and cover-ups.”

  1. All you all asking for Dream Lights to return are deluding yourselves. It’s never happening
Was it beautiful? Yes! Was it magical? Of course! Were they time consuming & expensive to put up? No question and that’s why we’ll never see Dream Lights again
