“It’s the most expensive tiiiiime, of the year!” Sorry, we hate to be the ones to point it out, but it’s true. Families are paying for a whole Christmas dinner, presents for teachers, friends, family, and everyone in between, and decorations to impress the neighbors. It’s a LOT! Even in Disney World, celebrating the holiday season costs extra. Tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are not cheap, so before you splurge, make sure you know what you’re getting.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is an exclusive after-hours party that takes place in the Magic Kingdom on select nights from November 7th through December 21st. The party includes specialty entertainment, such as Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. There are character meet-and-greets, shorter lines for attractions, exclusive Christmas ride overlays, holiday merchandise, and treats! But, ultimately, ticket prices keep increasing, and the cost might outweigh the experience for some. That’s why we’re here to help you answer the question: Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party still worth it?
Price Overview
Let’s start with a little ticket price history. In 2023, tickets cost between $159 and $199 for adults. In 2024, tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ranged from $169 to $219 per person. This year, ticket prices range from $169 to $229 per ticket, plus tax (prices vary by event date). Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can save $10 per ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but only on select nights.

There’s a lot to do during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. You can easily fill your night with rare character meet-and-greets, rides on some of the Magic Kingdom’s most popular attractions, the exclusive parade, fireworks show, and more. In terms of entertainment, you really have plenty of options.
That said, you may be paying over $200 for less than a full day in the park. The party officially runs from 7 PM to midnight, though party guests can enter the park as early as 4 PM (just note you won’t be able to celebrate the party-exclusive offerings until 7 PM!). For comparison, a regular 1-Day ticket to Magic Kingdom can range from $144–$209.

You can do the math. In terms of “value,” you’re getting more out of a regular, full-day ticket to Magic Kingdom than a ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. You’re paying for the exclusivity of a special holiday event and lower crowds. Now that we’ve got the basics out of the way, let’s talk about whether this exclusive party is actually worth it.
Pros of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2025
Disney advertises this as a limited-capacity event. That means we’re expecting smaller crowds and shorter lines throughout the park. In 2024, we felt the crowds were pretty mild — some areas of the park were busy, but we did not feel overwhelmed by the crowds. This year, crowds on opening night were… um… certainly not moderate, even hours before the party was set to begin. That said, we’d expect things to calm down a bit as the

Many of the exclusive character meet-and-greets had short lines, making it easy to walk up, take some photos, and continue on to other parts of the party. That said, some popular characters, ESPECIALLY Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, will likely draw longer lines.

On the party’s opening night, wait for the du had ballooned to over an hour just after the park gates opened to party guests… three hours before the party technically began.

As we noted earlier, this party comes with a LOT of activities to keep you busy. In fact, there’s probably so much to do that you could (probably) not get it all done in one night! We’re counting this as a party PRO because we appreciate having options. If you want to spend the whole night trying exclusive treats, you’ve got plenty to enjoy (and some are FREE!). If you want to spend your evening meeting characters, there are TONS around the park. If you’re there for the parade, it runs twice a night.

Since there is so much to do, we recommend arriving at the Magic Kingdom by 4 PM to make the most of your time. In our experience, grabbing some dinner first thing in the evening is a good way to start the party. No hangry visitors on our watch!

We are also happy to report that Santa’s Carnival is BACK for 2025 — this was a favorite of ours last year when it debuted. This area featured fun games, elves on stilts, and a polar bear meet-and-greet. Plus, this was another area of the park where it snoaps (snow soap), so it was a real win for us!

Cons of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2025
We’ll be honest: when most people think of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, they think of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. It’s kind of the main attraction. So, unsurprisingly, the parade draws BIG crowds all along the parade route. You may need to grab a parade viewing spot about 45 minutes before the parade kicks off. Don’t let the crowds scare you, though; this parade is a must-see!

This actually plays into a larger “con” we noticed related to crowd expectations. Given the limited number of tickets available and the comparatively short wait times for rides, it can be tempting to think the event won’t be crowded. However, in reality, several areas of the park tend to bulge with large crowds in ways that wait times do not account for.

Unfortunately, the party’s exclusive food offerings would also likely fall into the con department. While there were definitely some bright spots – we’re looking at you Holiday Pot Roast Mini Corn Dogs from Casey’s Corner – for the most part, we found these dishes to be at best serviceable and at worst very underwhelming, and not holiday enough to be worth the time and money it takes to get them.

Overall
Is this party VERY expensive? Yes. There’s no denying it. But can you put a price on Christmas magic? Where else can you walk down Main Street, U.S.A. as “snoap” gently falls around you? Where else can you watch REAL toy soldiers march down the street in perfect time? Disney goes all-out to make this event feel as magical as possible.

After our 2025 experience at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, we believe that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party can stand alone as a Magic Kingdom park day, and the party ticket is comparable to a regular day ticket. You get up to eight hours in Magic Kingdom, lower ride wait times, short lines for character meet-and-greets, specialty entertainment, and free cookies.

We recommend spending the start of your day before the party in three ways: 1) sleep in, 2) hit the pool, and 3) enjoy a nice, relaxing meal before the party. Take it easy — you’ll have a long, busy night ahead of you!

Ultimately, though, it’s up to you if that $200+ price tag is “worth it.” We had a BLAST at the party this year, but you can have plenty of (free) holiday fun around Disney World, too. We suggest hitting the Tree Stroll in Disney Springs, checking out the gingerbread displays at the Disney World hotels, and meeting Santa in Disney Springs!

With so much to see and do during the holiday season, it can feel overwhelming! If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
