A beloved seasonal restaurant has been completely demolished.

Not too long ago, we said goodbye forever to Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom in Disney World. As the progress to transform this once occupied space into a new area of Frontierland continued, we spotted even more construction walls that have blocked our entire view of what exactly’s going on back behind those walls. Luckily, new photos have emerged that will put your curiosity to rest but we’ve got to warn you, there’s not much left there to see anymore!
We’ve got so many fond memories of playing over at Tom Sawyer Island and trying our best keep our feet dry while walking across the barrel bridge and exploring the nearby caverns and caves.

But, maybe one of our best and most beloved features of the island, was a quick visit to Aunt Polly’s. This elusive restaurant was only open seasonally and cooked up an extremely limited menu given its location.

This seemed to make it exceptionally special if you were lucky enough to have grabbed a quick bite to eat here over the last few decades when it was open. Of course, Aunt Polly’s restaurant closed with the rest of Tom Sawyer Island over this past summer, but remained one of the last buildings visible before the taller construction walls completely sealed off our view of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.

However, @bioreconstruct has shared a few recent bird’s eye view photos grabbed from behind these towering construction walls, and we’ve got to caution you that what you’re about to see might shock you. If you were expecting to see any remnents left of the former restaurant, there’s no easy way to break this. Aunt Polly’s has been demolished.

Additionally, a large windmill previously stood to greet you around the island’s exterior and that has also been removed.

And since we’re making it a clean break here, you’ll find that the once marvelous mill or water wheel that once bordered the island’s greeting to the water is also gone.

Yes, it appears that most of the telling landmarks and buildings that made up Tom Sawyer Island have now since been erased to make way for the upcoming structures that will pepper the land.
It seems now that all have left to do for this area of Frontierland is wait until we begin to see the start of the construction walls coming down so we can get a peek at a few of the upcoming features we’ll eventually get to explore inside Piston Peak once it opens!
We’ll continue to keep a close watch for updates as we have them! Be sure to stay tuned with us at AllEars for the latest.
