Could trouble be looming for one of Magic Kingdom’s most anticipated upcoming projects?

It was announced at 2025’s Destination D23 in Disney World that the classic colors are coming back to Cinderella Castle sometime soon! While the news has been largely met with enthusiasm, there is one MAJOR caveat to this project that we could see being a pretty big problem.
Per Disney, the new color palette will be inspired by the classic look of the castle, with the return of grays, creams, blues, and some gold to the iconic Disney landmark.

While a timeline has yet to be announced, we already foresee there being an aesthetics issue when the project is officially underway.
The castle was painted its current pink and blue tones to celebrate Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary, and we recall a tedious process when that was taking place.

For many, the quintessential Magic Kingdom activity is taking in the castle and grabbing a few pictures while you’re at it. However, while it’s being worked on, Cinderella Castle may be an eyesore.
We’re talking cranes, painters, incomplete paint jobs — just a mess. The last paint job took several months, although the majority of the painting happened during the pandemic in 2020 when the park was closed. This time, the park is fully operational, and Disney will likely do work during the daytime when folks are strolling down Main Street, U.S.A.

Alas, construction and refurbishment eyesores are not new to the Disney Parks. Disney is mostly very good at hiding projects, but in some cases — like the one they’re about to have with the big freaking castle in the middle of the most popular theme park in the world — inconspicuous work is not possible.

Yeah, it’ll be weird walking in and seeing the castle, and your pictures won’t be as pretty while work is being done. But look at it this way: You’ll get to see the castle in a rare form that will very rarely be replicated in the future. You get to witness Disney history firsthand. And that’s pretty cool.
