Disney Needs New Rules for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Since its 2021 opening, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has become one of EPCOT’s most popular — and busiest– attractions.

However, there are a few things Disney could do to improve the experience of this trip through Pixar’s Paris.

Rework the Glasses

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which is a direct import from the Disneyland Paris Resort, is a 4D ride experience that shrinks guests to the size of a rat and sees them navigate the kitchen and dining area of Gusteau’s restaurant, as seen in the film.

To achieve its 4D effects, the ride utilizes 3D glasses, which brings up the main change I wish to see. See, I’ve been going to Disney parks for over three decades, and in the time I’ve experienced and loved a lot of attractions which utilize 3D (RIP Muppet*Vision), but have never been comfortable wearing 3D glasses. This issue is an even bigger impediment to those who wear glasses, including several members of our AllEars team. However, there may be an answer just down the road.

Specifically, we would love to see rides and experiences that utilize 3D glasses to transition to something similar to the visors used on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge over at Epic Universe. While the technology wouldn’t be exactly the same, the physical apparatus could be adapted.

Single Rider Clarification

A slightly less pressing but minor change we’d like to see Disney better explain is single rider lines. As stated above, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is a popular attraction. It’s a Tier 1 Lightning Lane, and opens at 9:00 AM (two hours before most of World Showcase) to allow rope droppers to try and get on the ride quickly.

Single Rider queue

That makes the single rider line a valuable addition to the ride, and probably the quickest way to get on. However, many riders aren’t expecting single riders given the nature of the ride’s vehicles, therefore they’re often surprised when Cast Members sit single riders with their families.

*Bonus* Make a Candle That Smells Like the Bread Scene!

Okay, this one isn’t a rule or major change, but come on, Disney, please provide a way for us to take that delicious scene home!

These changes would make the popular Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure experience at EPCOT even better! Stay tuned to AllEars for more.

    1. Hi Kathryn. There is a single rider line. Some families do not know that there could be a single rider placed in the vehicle with their family. Let’s say, for instance, that you have 4 family members, 2 adults and a small child may sit in the front row while the 4th family member sits in the back and may then be joined by a single rider, or any combination of that. If there’s room in the vehicle, a single rider may join you.

    2. The author’s saying that some people are unaware that groups may get additional strangers in their ride vehicle, especially when there is a single rider line. The author would like it if that was communicated better, as the unwelcoming “Uh, no, this is OUR car” reactions are off-putting. The problem with that desire is that many people don’t read or pay attention and even some people entering the single rider line, which has signs!, will complain when they arrive at the front of the line and discover they’re getting separated. So raising awareness in people who don’t even use the single rider line is sort of hopeless IMHO.

  1. Un needed and un necessary the rides perfect the way it is and immersive enough wearing visors etc would detract from that

  2. There are no glasses anymore seemingly, it was a fully 2d ride when I went last week and they said the glasses are no longer offered.

  3. The last three trips, the ride has either broken down while we were still in line (after an hour or more) or while we were on the ride. I’d like to see that fixed first!

  4. Funny you mention a bread scented candle. B&BW had a French Baguette candle that would have been perfect, but they discontinued it for reasons I don’t know. The scent was perfection.

  5. Due to a vision impediment (amblyopia) I can’t see in 3D. People with one eyeball are the same–no depth perception. While single-eyed people are relatively rare in the USA, amblyopia is one of the most common visual disorders. It’s very unpleasant to watch 3D videos without glasses, but it would be nice to have a way for those of us who lack stereo vision to see the videos clearly. Also, why can’t Disney sell “b better/more comfortable 3D glasses people can keep and use on all the rides that call for them? They could still provide “free” glasses, but personally-owned glasses could be yet another money make for Iger & Co., and goodness knows they don’t make nearly enough money as it is… 😁
