This Magic Kingdom Ride Just Took a BIG Step Toward Reopening

Astro Orbiter has been under refurbishment for a few months now, but it appears that things could be changing soon.

Astro Orbiter

Not only was the ride closed, but we saw the pieces of it actually dismantled and taken off the ride to an offsite location to be refurbished! Now, however, due to a new permit that was just filed, we could be seeing those pieces come back into their proper place soon.

The permit filed is a Notice of Commencement and was filed to “Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction” to the Astro Orbiter site as of April 10th.

Permit

This was the same wording that was used when dismantling the attraction earlier this year. This also means that we’ll likely see the return of the large crane in Tomorrowland that was used to reach the pieces on the platform and remove them.

Construction walls around Astro Orbiter

Those construction walls were pretty big last time around, and we’re expecting it to be the same for the reinstall, so prepare yourself for that if you’re traveling to the parks in the next few weeks. Thankfully, the last time the walls and crane were present for a relatively short amount of time, and we’re hoping for the same as they reinstall.

Astro Orbiter closed for refurbishment

At this time, Disney has only given the timeline of Summer 2025 to expect this attraction to be back open for guests to enjoy.
