If you’ve got a Disney World trip planned for Summer 2025, hold onto your hats, because you’re in for a WHIRLWIND of changes!

Summer is one of the most popular times to visit the parks since kids are out of school, but Disney doesn’t often stop their refurbishment or major change schedule to accommodate popular travel seasons. Looking for an example? Well just look at all the MASSIVE changes happening this summer, and be prepared for them on your trip!
Test Track COULD Reopen!
We’re waiting to hear exactly when Disney World is planning to reopen the new reimagined version of Test Track, but we’re crossing our fingers it’ll reopen its doors sometime this summer.

We think there’s a pretty good chance of this happening, but we won’t know anything for sure until Disney makes an official announcement. However, if Disney does reopen this ride during the summer, it’ll help ease a little bit of the pressure off of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, currently the most popular ride in the park.

The new version of the ride will have the same ride track and structure as its previous version, but Disney has said the exterior will be more reminiscent of the original version of the ride, World of Motion, which has us very eager to ride the new version!

TWO New Hollywood Studios Attractions Opening on The SAME Day!
Disney recently announced that the new Villains show replacing Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, will be opening to guests on May 27th. On stage, you’ll get to see Captain Hook, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil, but other Villains will make appearances in other special ways as well, and Disney has said, “In the end, it will be on you to make the final call in a delightfully wicked finale filled with dozens of the most infamous evildoers awaiting your decision from within the Mirror’s realm.”

The wild part? Disney will ALSO be opening the reimagined Little Mermaid stage show on the SAME day! This new show is called The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure and is based off the original animated film. Disney has said that the new film, “will feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her.”

We can’t wait to see both of these new shows, but if you’re in the parks on this day, keep in mind that it’ll be BUSY!
BREAKING! Opening Date Revealed for NEW Attraction Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
New Nighttime Parade
We also know that Disney’s new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight, will be debuting this summer as well! While we don’t have an official date yet, Disney has given us that timeline, and we’re hoping it’ll be sooner rather than later.

While we’ve been thrilled for this new nighttime parade, which will include floats with some of your favorite characters from Peter Pan, Coco, Moana, Cinderella, Frozen, and more, we also know it’s about to be WILDLY popular.

If you happen to be in the parks around the time it debuts, you’ll want to get a good spot for this parade AT LEAST an hour in advance, and a meh spot no later than half an hour in advance. We have high expectations, especially because of the beautiful concept art we’ve seen, and we know others do too, so prepare for those crowds.

Muppets Courtyard Closes
To make room for the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios, Disney will be closing Muppets Courtyard this summer in stages.

Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will close first on May 11th (with the final day of dining being May 10th), followed by Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo, which will have their final day of operation on June 7th.

It’s suspected that after those final two closures, the entire land will close off, as there will be no more remaining attractions for guests to enjoy. Disney hasn’t confirmed that just yet, but we’ll continue to keep an eye out for all the latest news regarding this transformation.

Frontierland *May* Hop on The Struggle Bus
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed at the beginning of 2025 for a lengthy refurbishment that we know will at LEAST take it through the beginning of 2026, but could continue longer. With one main attraction out of this land, that leaves Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island.

Or maybe NOT, because we know Disney will be closing Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat to turn that area into the new Cars-themed land coming to the park sometime this year. While Disney hasn’t confirmed it, we have a bad feeling it might hit during summertime.

If that’s the case, it’ll leave Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as the sole attraction in Frontierland, and getting there might be…a trip.
