The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is about to get a whole lot bigger!

MCO is a relatively small airport compared to the massive number of flights that come in every day, filled with families ready to start their best vacation ever, and this new project might help you get where you need to go faster.
Signature Aviation is set to build a new terminal at MCO, according to the Orlando Business Journal.
This new terminal will be 8,000 square feet long, with two 30,000-square-foot group storage hangars, which will also include additional office space.

At the terminal, you’ll find a VIP lounge, a central lobby, private conference rooms, and areas for flight operations.
While this project is underway, 2,000 square feet near the Southwest Airlines Training Building will be used as a temporary terminal.

The new project will bring more jobs to Orlando, including new construction, opportunities for stores and restaurants within the terminal, and, of course, new jobs for the additional flights that will be able to land at MCO.

Southwest is the largest airline at MCO, operating about 54% of the flights coming through the airport. The airline partners with Disney World and has recently brought back its Airport Luggage Transfer service. This service allows guests to drop off their luggage at their Disney World Resort and avoid checking it at the airport. Disney will take your bags to the airport for you, and you can pick them up at your final destination.

This service is only available at the five Disney World Value Resorts, but we’re hoping to see it expand in the future. Maybe with the new terminal, there’s room for growth with Disney’s partnership with airlines.

We’re going to keep our eyes on this new terminal and watch all the construction updates, but in the meantime, make sure to follow AllEars for all your travel news.
