4 Disney World App Changes That Would Make Trips 100X Better

Planning a Disney World trip is supposed to be magical, but let’s be real – sometimes the Disney World app feels more like a challenge from The Amazing Race than an easy-to-use tool.

Whether you’re juggling dining reservations, park tickets, or photos, the app can often leave you saying, “Why isn’t this simpler?” To save everyone (including ourselves) a lot of time and stress, here are four changes Disney could make to their app that would make our next trips so much better.

Add Wait Time Alerts

Imagine this: you’re chilling with a Mickey pretzel, and suddenly your phone buzzes. “Wait time for Space Mountain just dropped to 20 minutes.” Boom – you’re on your way to Tomorrowland faster than you can say, “The most magical place on Earth.”

10-minute wait!

Universal Orlando’s app already has a feature like this, so why doesn’t Disney World? A wait time alert would be a total game-changer. No more obsessively refreshing the app every five minutes to see if the line for Slinky Dog Dash has gotten any shorter. You could focus on, you know, actually enjoying your day in the parks instead of being glued to your screen.

Let Us Save Gift Card Info for Payments

Here’s a scenario I know you’ll recognize: you’re standing in line for popcorn, just about ready to check out, and then you remember you’ve got a Disney gift card. You start frantically typing in the 16-digit number in the app, hoping you don’t mistype. And don’t even get me started on the CVV and PIN.

Disney Gift Card

Wouldn’t it be amazing if the app just remembered your gift card info? It would be great if once you’ve entered it, you’d be good to go for the rest of your trip. It’s 2025 and it seems like most apps already have this feature. Considering how many of us use gift cards to budget for our trips, this would be such an easy fix to streamline mobile ordering, shopping, and more at Disney World.

Revamp Reservations

Let’s talk about linking reservations in the app. If you’ve ever tried to make sure everyone in your group can see your resort reservation, dining plans, or park tickets, you know it’s more complicated than it needs to be.

First, you have to link the reservation. Then, if someone else has already linked it, you need to confirm that you’re connected under the Family & Friends section. Oh, and don’t forget to mark the plans as “shared” so other people can actually see them. Confused yet? Yeah, us too.

Why can’t the app just automatically sync plans for everyone in your party? Disney already knows who’s on the reservation, which makes it feel like we’re jumping through some unnecessary hoops. A revamped reservation system would save so much time and frustration. Plus, it would cut down on those “Did you see our dining reservation yet?” texts.

Simplify Memory Maker Photo Access

Memory Maker is an awesome way to get professional photos from your trip, but the way you access those photos isn’t exactly the best. If you’ve designated one person in your group as the official scanner, you’ll need to log into their account to view and download photos without watermarks.

PhotoPass Studio

Let’s just say this system is less magical and more…maddening. Why not make Memory Maker photos automatically accessible to everyone in the group? If your group is already linked in the app, the photos should just show up for everyone. No logging into someone else’s account, no sending photos back and forth – just quick, easy access to all the memories you paid for.
