Will This Abandoned Building Ever REOPEN in Disney World?!

When Disney World reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic, one attraction did not.

We got excited earlier in 2024 when Disney announced that a new show would take the place of the abandoned Voyage of the Little Mermaid in the fall of this year, but up until very recently, we heard practically nothing about an opening date or new information. This made us concerned that Disney would never get this building back open and operating as an attraction for guests to enjoy. Luckily, Disney just recently made a new announcement with a new opening timeline for this new show!

The Voyage of the Little Mermaid as we know it will NOT return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s closed now, and Disney has confirmed that this show has permanently closed to make way for an updated version.

“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure”, an all-new stage show, will replace the show in the Animation Courtyard theater, however its opening has been pushed to Summer 2025.

While this show remains closed in Hollywood Studios, you can find out what else will be closed in Disney World this coming week of October 28th through November 3rd below!

Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade

The opening day attraction, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, officially closed on June 23rd.

This closure is to make room for a new DVC lounge that will soon be coming to Frontierland. This will be the third DVC lounge in Disney World, but we don’t have an opening date, yet.

Tomorrowland Terrace

Tomorrowland Terrace is a restaurant in Magic Kingdom that has usually only been open occasionally, generally during particularly busy seasons. However, it’s been a LONG time since we’ve seen this spot open at all.

Currently, it’s only used for Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert parties, and there’s no word on when it might serve food again.

Test Track closed on June 17th for reimagining! Disney recently released more details and announced that the ride will reopen in 2025!

We know that the ride will continue to be a partnership with Chevrolet and that they will be taking some inspiration from the original ride World of Motion.

Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco pavilion of World Showcase is closed as the restaurant it used to be. From time-to-time, Disney will reopen it as a lounge, and now it being used as the Florida Blue Lounge for the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival!

However, we’re still waiting for the full dining experience to return to this restaurant.

Everything Pop Food Court — Pop Century Resort

Everything Pop Food Court is a surprisingly great place to grab a bite of food if you’re staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

This food court has been under construction since July 29th, and it was supposed to reopen to its full capacity on September 29th! However, the refurbishment has been extended until November 30th. On a positive note, though, the areas that were closed off are now open and looking fantastic, while the areas that were open are now closed off for their updates.

The World Premiere Food Court was supposed to officially reopen on July 31st, however that was not the case.

Disney recently updated its website to say that the refurbishment will be ongoing until mid-October. Throughout this refurbishment the restaurant hasn’t been totally closed! You can still use mobile order to choose food items off a limited menu and seating is available at the food court and at the arcade. We’ll keep you posted on its full reopening!
