Ever since its historic closure in 2020, Disney World has been doing a lot of things VERY differently. Free FastPasses? Gone. Complimentary airport bus transportation to your Disney World hotel? Gone. Some systems, like the Park Pass Reservation System, were both created and phased out within just a few years.

While most Disney World visitors do not need to reserve their theme park choices ahead of time, there are still a few groups of people beholden to the Park Pass Reservation System. In fact, a few upcoming dates in October are listed as “sold out” for some of the Disney World parks. Let’s take a look!
As previously mentioned, not all Disney World visitors need to reserve their Park Passes ahead of time. In fact, those who purchase date-based Disney World park tickets do not need to do anything with their park tickets before their visit.

But, if your tickets or passes for Disney World are NOT tied to a date, you will still need to make a Park Pass Reservation. This applies to Annual Passholders, Cast Members, and a few other categories of tickets, such as those you might get if you are attending a convention at Disney World or going on a student trip, and for select promotions.

Why is this important? Well, during especially busy times of year or on special dates, those Park Passes can fill up, meaning you cannot scan directly into that park without a valid reservation.

Recently, we noticed that a few dates are listed as “unavailable” on the October calendar. In fact, Magic Kingdom is sold out on Wednesday, October 16th, and Friday, October 18th, on Disney’s “Theme Park Tickets” and “Select Resort Hotels” calendars. These categories apply to those with non-date-based tickets.

At this time, the Park Pass Reservation Calendar is wide open for all four types of Disney World Annual Passes.

So, what’s with the two random sold out dates at Magic Kingdom? It might be due to people rearranging their schedules due to Hurricane Milton, but it’s hard to say for certain! Either way, expect Magic Kingdom to potentially look a little extra crowded on October 16th and 18th. We’ll keep our eyes out for updates!

It’s just not fun visiting WDW anymore. No spontaneity, too much pre planning and spending the whole holiday on you phone. It’s just too stressful and too expensive
I guess all of the Jungle Cruise fans are coming out of hibernation on Wednesday.
