CONFIRMED: Reopening Details Revealed for Universal Orlando After Hurricane Milton

Universal’s announcement to close ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall was an expected turn of events for the theme parks, however, it wasn’t confirmed exactly when they would reopen, until NOW.

BREAKING NEWS

Major theme parks and the Orlando Airport prepped to brace for the impact and any potential damage brought on by the history-making storm. We had hoped that the announced closure of Universal’s parks would be brief but there was no way to know for sure until an announcement was made.

Universal Studios in Orlando made the decision mere days ago to close its theme parks, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay AND its shopping and dining district CityWalk, ahead of Hurricane Milton making landfall in Florida.

In the park’s original closure announcement, they outlined that both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure would be open on Wednesday, October 9th with Universal CityWalk closing at 2PM ahead of needing visitors to exit and move to prepare for any impacts the storm would have on the area. Additionally, the closure would extend through Thursday, October 10th, 2024.

Unfortunately, if you were planning to visit Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights either Wednesday, October 9th or Thursday, October 10th, both of these event dates were canceled for the safety of all attending and working.

Now, Universal Studios has announced its reopening on Friday, October 11th, 2024. This would resume normal operating hours at all their theme parks and water park, as well as the after-hours special event, Halloween Horror Nights. The announcement opens with a heartfelt statement for those affected by Hurricane Milton and the company’s gratitude to the Team Members for their hard work over the past few days.

This sounds pretty promising that Universal wasn’t affected too much by the hurricane as it passed over, however, we’re eager to see if there are any damages that will need to be addressed once we’re allowed back into the parks tomorrow.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on how the storm impacted theme parks, so stay tuned for more.
