We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Milton.

Disney World has been making adjustments to its hotel cancelation policy, and Orlando International Airport (MCO) will soon cease operations ahead of the storm. We have been waiting to hear about an update from Universal Orlando as Orange County, where Universal Orlando lies is under a hurricane warning. We finally have an update from Universal and the precautions they will be taking ahead of Hurricane Milton.
Universal Orlando released a statement for operational changes at the resort between October 9th and October 10th.

On Wednesday, October 9th, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Universal CityWalk will close at 2 PM and will remain closed on Thursday, October 10th.

Universal Volcano Bay will be closed Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.

Halloween Horror Nights is canceled for Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.

All Universal Orlando hotels will remain open. Universal expects a full reopening, including Halloween Horror Nights on Friday, October 11th. Universal notes that hours of operation may change due to forecast alterations.

If you were planning to visit Universal during these dates, Universal says that, “In the event that a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact our team in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed.” It is important to note that “If you have purchased airline tickets as part of your Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations package, you may still be subject to cancellation and change fees assessed by those airlines.”

If you need to contact Universal about canceling your trip or to answer any questions, you can call the Guest Contact Center team at (800)-711-0080.

As the Orlando International Airport is set to cease operations tomorrow, October 9th, make sure to check with your air carrier about any flight changes.

We will continue to watch for new regarding Hurricane Milton and its affect on Central Florida theme parks, so make sure to continue to follow along with AllEars.
