Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is in full swing this time of year, which is fantastic for those with after hours party tickets, but for anyone without? It’s a bummer.

That’s because on party nights, Magic Kingdom closes at 6 PM for regular guests, in comparison to its usual 9 PM or 10 PM closing time on other nights. The event officially starts at 7 PM, and only party guests are allowed to be in the park at that time. If you’ve been planning to book a dining reservation in Magic Kingdom during your trip and it happens to be a party night, don’t worry, though! You don’t have to eat at 5 PM — in fact, we’re telling you to book your dining reservation for right at 7 PM.
Some Magic Kingdom table service restaurants will take reservations right up to 7 PM on party nights, even though the park is technically “closed”! So, grab that 7 PM reservation to make the most of Magic Kingdom when it closes early!

Cast Members are not going to make you exit the park if you can show them on your My Disney Experience App that you have a dining reservation coming up.

In fact, members of our team have seen guests without party tickets but WITH 7 PM reservations being allowed into Magic Kingdom after 6 PM with no issues, since Cast Members won’t want you to miss your dining reservation!

Now, it’s important to remember that this does not give you access to the party! When you’re walking into the park after 6 PM, you won’t be able to get in line for a ride without a party ticket, and the same thing goes for when you leave your dining reservation. When you’re leaving the park after your dinner, it’s pretty common to be escorted out by a Cast Member — not in a “you’ve done something wrong” way, of course. It’s just how they ensure that only people with party tickets enjoy the elements of the party. So, if you find that you’ve planned a Magic Kingdom day on a date the park is closing early, this is a way to maximize your time there!

So, what kinds of dining reservations do we recommend? We’re glad you asked! If you’re hoping to stick around in Magic Kingdom a little later on a party night, we recommend:

Interesting, just for fun I went to the Disney app and tried to book dinner on a party night at 7:00, I got a warning message that I needed a party ticket, but it did let go forward. When I tried 6:50 I didn’t even get a warning message. I may book a 6:50 meal just to give me more time in the park to avoid the mass exodus to the buses etc.
