The Perfect Time to Ride Peter Pan’s Flight in Disney World

*Please imagine me seated at my desk with my hands folded in a very serious manner.* I’ve brought you all here today to discuss the PERFECT strategies to ride one of Magic Kingdom‘s most popular rides.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Peter Pan’s Flight is known to have LONG waits that many people feel aren’t worth to experience this 3-minute long dark ride that isn’t the smoothest anymore. However, other Disney World goers, like myself, find themselves making time for this ride every single trip, even if it means waiting in a 60 minute line. Here’s the thing though: as much as I love this attraction, it’s NOT worth over a 30 minute line in my eyes, but I also don’t want to leave Disney World without riding it. So what’s the happy medium? Finding the times to ride that have the LOWEST wait times!

Now, if you’d like to skip the line for this attraction nearly entirely, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for your trip/your day in Magic Kingdom — that’s the easiest (in a way) way to ensure you’ll breeze past this line. However if you’re hesitant to spend more money on your already-expensive vacation, I totally get it — use these tips below instead!

Peter Pan’s Flight

During Early Entry/Right at Rope Drop

If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel and are planning to utilize Early Entry, Fantasyland is one of the two lands open during Early Entry (the other is Tomorrowland), so the time to get in line for Peter Pan’s Flight is RIGHT THEN.

However, you can also jump to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train first and then head over here, because during the first hour-ish of regular park operation (aka rope drop), this ride will typically stay around 30-35 minutes and below. However, the longer that you let time pass/the further past park opening you get, the longer this line will get!

Fireworks

We say this for most Magic Kingdom rides, but that’s because it’s TRUE — around half an hour before Happily Ever After, Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show, begins for the night, and all throughout the show, this is also a great time to get in line!

That’s because a lot of families, especially those with young kids, will choose to stop riding rides anywhere from a half hour to 5ish minutes before the show begins to grab a spot to see the fireworks in the Hub or on Main Street. And that means the lines for rides often go way down! The same can be said for during the 18 minute show — knock out all the rides you can while everyone is distracted!

Right Before Park Close

Sometimes Magic Kingdom stays open for an hour or two after the fireworks take place, especially in the fall and winter when it gets dark so early. In this case, lots of families will choose to leave the park after the fireworks have given them a great button to end their day on…which means it’s time to RUN to Peter Pan’s Flight! (Not really, please don’t run in Disney World.)

Disney World will also still allow you to ride an attraction if you get in line a literal MINUTE before park close, so waiting until the last minute to ride the attraction can also mean lower wait times. However, this also means that if the ride goes down and doesn’t come back up, it could thwart your one chance to ride. So if you’ve never ridden it before or you feel your trip will be ruined if you don’t, this is NOT when we’d recommend riding!

During Extended Evening Hours

Saving the best for last — if you’re staying at a Disney World Deluxe Hotel and you’re taking advantage of Extended Evening Hours, there is, quite literally, almost no better time to ride.

Hi Quincy, Emma, and Fry!

The only time of day that rivals this time is if you’re experiencing an after hours event like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which is also when the park is closed to regular guests. It’s very likely you’ll experience this (and lots of other attractions) as pretty much walk-ons, so if you’re using this perk, save this attraction for then!
