It’s TIMEEEE!
Oogie Boogie Bash has FINALLY begun in Disneyland Resort, and we love the way Disney California Adventure totally transforms for this spooky event, While it’s still not terrifying like Halloween Horror Nights in Universal, it is focused more on Disney villains than Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is, which we ADORE. If you’re heading to the event this year, here’s a recap of all the different entertainment you can experience with your ticket!
Character Meet and Greets
One of the biggest draws to this event is the ability to meet different rare Disney characters around the whole park!
These are oftentimes characters you can’t meet anywhere else in the park during other times of the year, making it extra special. This year we got to meet fan favorites like Kingdom Hearts Donald Duck!
We also spotted some Cars characters roaming Cars Land in costume. These are always so fun!
The map will often tell you where to find special character meets, so look out for those during your visit.
You never know who might show up to Oogie Boogie Bash, so be on the lookout around the park!
Trick or Treat Trails
However, you can also meet characters along the Trick or Treat Trails! These trails allow you to pick up candy AND see rare Disney villains and interact with them.
There are 12 different treat trails this year, and many of them are returning from previous years. However, some of them are brand new!
At the Ancient Sanctum in Avengers Campus, you’ll find the Agatha Harkness treat trail. She’s been here in the past, but this year she’s wearing a new outfit inspired by her Disney+ series.
One of the new treat trails for 2024 is inspired by Phineas and Ferb — you can see Dr. Doofenschmirtz! Find him at the theater in Hollywood Land.
Another new offering for this year is the Hades treat trail! Hades’ Hideaway is located on the Hollywood Backlot Stage.
And of course, it wouldn’t be Oogie Boogie Bash without a visit to Oogie Boogie himself! His treat trail is located inside the Animation Academy and it’s rather impressively themed.
Other characters you can spot on these trails include Sid from Toy Story, Yokai from Big Hero 6, Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone, Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco, and Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
The treat trails are definitely a highlight of the night, so don’t miss out!
Frightfully Fun Parade
You’ll also get a chance to see some of your favorite Disney characters and villains in the iconic Frightfully Fun Parade that happens each night (weather permitting)!
If you’re a fan of Disney villains, you’ll definitely want to check this out as well.

And of course, the parade iconically kicks off with a ride from the Headless Horseman.

This is easily one of the most popular events of the festival, so be sure to stake out your spot early! It typically shows 1-2 times per night, but be sure to check the Disneyland App and your party map to see the most up-to-date information!
Mickey’s Trick and Treat
You can also catch the stage show, Mickey’s Trick and Treat, between 3-4 times each night! It takes place at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land, and is fantastic for the whole family.
The story follows Mickey and Minnie (and Goofy and Donald!) who meet their friend Parker, who makes a special potion that turns the night upside down! We won’t spoil anything, but if you’ve got some extra time or some little ones with you, we definitely think it’s worth checking out.
Villains Grove
Easily one of the most popular events of the night is Villains Grove, located in Reedwood Creek Challenge Trail. Disney villains have overtaken the land and turned it into their personal playground, brought to life with special effects, lighting, and fog.
Areas of the trail are themed to different villains, such as:
- Frollo’s Sanctuary
- Maleficent’s Will
- Queen of Hearts Garden
- Scar’s Elephant Graveyard
- Dr. Facilier’s Friends on the Other Side
- The Wicked Queen’s Lightning Forest
- Home of the Wisps
- Dawn
Photo Opportunities
Lastly, you won’t want to miss the photo opportunities spread around the park! And we encourage you to take FULL advantage of them, because all PhotoPass photos taken during the party are included in your party ticket!
While all the photo spots are listed on your party map, if you want to plan ahead, you can find them:
