CONFIRMED: Full List of Disney World Ride Closures in October 2024

If you’re heading to Disney World this October, here are the ride closures you need to be prepared for!

Magic Kingdom Entrance

There are plenty of things to consider when planning a Disney World vacation. Of course, there’s choosing the best hotel for your family, making dining reservations, and booking your transportation. But it’s also important to check for any scheduled ride closures so you can prepare your expectations accordingly. Not sure what’s on the refurb schedule for October? We’ve got you covered!

Occasionally, Disney World attractions are closed for scheduled maintenance. The length of these closures can vary based on the amount and complexity of work that needs to be done. For example, if a ride is being completely rethemed, it may be closed for longer than one that’s undergoing routine maintenance.

It can be a bummer if one of your favorite rides is closed during your trip, but checking the schedule ahead of time can at least help you prepare accordingly. With that being said, here are all of the Disney World attractions that will be closed for refurbishment in October 2024.

EPCOT

Let’s start with an ongoing closure. Test Track in EPCOT closed back on June 17th, 2024 for a huge refurbishment. The ride is currently undergoing a major reimagining and is scheduled to remain closed until 2025, so it will be unavailable for the entire month of October.

Test Track

Disney shared more details about the Test Track reimagining at this year’s D23 convention. When it reopens, the ride will celebrate “today’s innovation while highlighting the past, present, and future.” It will also include new show scenes showcasing technological advances, with scenes that focus on “onboard technology, customization, and personalization.”

Test Track isn’t the only popular attraction being refurbished in October. Heading over to Magic Kingdom, the iconic Jungle Cruise will also be closed during October 2024. The good news is, unlike Test Track, Jungle Cruise won’t be closed for the entire month.

The Jungle Cruise Elephant Pool

Jungle Cruise will close for refurbishment on August 26th and is currently scheduled to remain closed through October 17th. Disney hasn’t shared any details about updates being made to the ride, but it’s likely just a routine refurbishment since the attraction got an overhaul a few years ago.

As of now, Jungle Cruise is scheduled to reopen on October 18th, so you should still get a chance to ride it if you’re visiting later in the month, but keep in mind that the refurbishment dates are subject to change!

Jungle Cruise

Right now, Test Track and Jungle Cruise are the only two individual attractions with scheduled closures for October 2024. But we have to give an honorable mention to an entire park. Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park has been closed for refurbishment since March 17th, 2024, and will remain closed through the month of October.

But if you’re a fan of water parks, don’t worry — Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be open in October so you’ll still have a water park available to visit!

That covers all of the attraction refurbishments scheduled in Disney World for October 2024. Keep in mind that other rides can go down for unexpected closures due to technical difficulties, so you might want to visit any of your absolute must-do attractions as early as possible in case they hit any unexpected downtime later in your trip.
