Today’s the day! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially open in Magic Kingdom!
Since Splash Mountain closed in January 2023, we’ve been watching for every update, big and small. And finally, the new attraction is open with two ways to ride – via Virtual Queue (which will open at 7AM and 1PM each day) or by booking a Lightning Lane after purchasing Genie+. Let’s take a step-by-step look at just how you can snag a spot in the Virtual Queue!
How to Ride
For now, there is NO standby line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. That means the only two ways you can ride it for the time being are to either book a Lightning Lane via Genie+, or to get a spot in the Virtual Queue.
Now, let’s talk about entering the Virtual Queue! As we’ve seen with other high-demand rides in the past like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, guests will have two chances to join the Virtual Queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in the My Disney Experience app — once at 7AM and once at 1PM. Note that guests can only hold one Virtual Queue per day, so if you snag one during the 7AM opening, you won’t be able to grab another at 1PM.
How to Join the Virtual Queue
The Virtual Queue spots for new attractions tend to go FAST (we’re talking literal seconds like on opening day), so be sure to have the My Disney Experience app downloaded well ahead of time. Plus, you’ll also want to have the app pulled up and ready to go before the Virtual Queue opening time.
On the home page of the Disney World app, you should see a Virtual Queue section that looks something like this.
If you click “Join Virtual Queue” before 7AM, you’ll see this. Both attractions that use Virtual Queues in Magic Kingdom have a button that says “Confirm Your Party”, which we highly recommend doing before 7AM. That way you can ensure your entire group gets a spot!
We clicked on that for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and it brought us to this page. We were able to confirm our party and it had a note at the top: “At 7:00AM, pull-to-refresh or tap the “Refresh” button below. Then, tap the “Join Queue” button as soon as it appears.”
That’s exactly what we did right at 7AM on the dot Hit “Join” as fast as you possibly can after refreshing…and you might just get lucky and score a spot! We happened to grab Group 68 on opening day.
By 7:01AM, both TRON and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Virtual Queues were full. One of our reporters tried to grab a spot for Tiana’s first, saw that was full, and quickly went to try for a TRON spot, and it worked! You have to be quick, but it is possible to change course.
Spaces in the Virtual Queue are limited and are not guaranteed, so again, make sure you’re ready to go as soon as they open at 7AM and 1PM! Also, note that all boarding groups might not be called based on attraction availability, so even if you snag a spot in the Virtual Queue, there’s a chance you might not be able to ride. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is off to a good start on its first day, however, it had some trouble operating during previews.
We’ll continue sharing more news from the opening day of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so stay tuned to AllEars for more details on what to expect the next time you’re “goin’ down the bayou!”
